I hope at least someone missed me around here! Anyway, I was on a hiatius and have just returned. I have seen almost every big blockbuster but didn't feel the need to write a review. However, there comes a time in this world when everyone finds that something that tells them their true calling in life. And Vishesh Film's Jannat has told me my true calling in life. I am doomed to write reviews for crappy movies all my life!

Anyway, on with the movie. Basically, the movie is a good plan with poor implementation. It speaks about Arjun(Emraan Hashmi), a smalltime crook who lives the common life of every crook, drowned in debt, always broke and of course, waiting for that one chance which will change his life forever. He finds that chance in betting on cricket, and soon understands that he has a sixth sense when it comes to knowing what's gonna happen next in the match.

So, basically, he earns a lot of money, he is called by a don in South Africa, and graduates from betting to match fixing. His girl, who should be the stupidest, dumbest, most indiotic in this entire world. Actually, the movie shows that Arjun is a millionaire and this girl, Zoya, is showered with diamond rings, clothes, houses(!), and she doesnt even ask him to take her once to his office. Well, if I was a girl and this was the nineties, I'd put it to normal smuggling and stuff, but in the 2000s, I'd be scared to even talk to a guy who buys all I have to sell and the next day comes in a Honda Accord.

Anyway, after that, the girl finally finds out that her husband, fiance, whatever, its a Mahesh Bhatt movie dudes, there's no marriage shown, is into match fixing and has him arrested, because she loves him.(yea, right).

After that, he is bailed out by the don and forced to fix a match at the world cup. Now, there is this visheshta(speciality) of Vishesh Films' movies. Any hotel room where something amoral or illegal is being done, has to have its door wide open. And that's what happens, a coach comes into the open hotel and sees the thing going on. Some idiotic henchman jumps the gun, the coach is shot and Arjun is implicated.

I think the movie was good enough till the time he is forced to hook the match, or even when until he's implicated. Though logic told me otherwise, even half an hour of intense action would have told me atleast they tried to make a movie. Of course, if we had a scene where Arjun, Zoya and the(sympathetic) police officer come with a plan to defeat the don, Mahesh Bhatt would become another RGV, anyway, off from wonderland and back to the celluloid world, devoid of creativity and ideas.

What follows is a completely idiotic sequence, not to mention blatantly copied from an English movie which can only be in a Mahesh Bhatt film.

Arjun drives with his friend and reaches Zoya at a mall. Zoya tells him to give up and everything will be all right. The police arrive and there is a standoff situation. Arjun surrenders, puts down the gun and raises his hands above his head. What else is he supposed to do to surrender? Do the surrendering dance or something?

Now, there is this stupid ring that is the crux of the movie, and the ring finds this time to fall down from his pocket and he bends down to take the ring, which is just next to the gun. and Bam. film over. Enjoy.
