“Koi yeh kaise bataye ki woh tanha kyu hain – does it ring a bell. One of my all time favorite song and many more belongs to Bhatt camp. Bhatt’s apart from being in controversies have been known for their meaningful cinema(not all the time), songs and music. Songs in bhatt movies always play an integral part and never ‘a break’ in the storyline and lyrics which prompt you to think, rethink and ponder and they certainly have evolved with time. The journey from “Jhuki jhuki si najar...” (Arth- 1983) to “Gali main aaj chand Nikla...” (Zakhma – 1998) to “Char dino ka pyaar ho rabba  ...” (Jannat 2008) has proved one thing that they have some real good taste in music and  their movies have been a source of good meaningful songs and lyrics which has been heard over ages.

Bhatt camp is back with their loyal music director “Pritam” who has done a fine work earlier with music of “Gangster”, “Woh lamhe” and “Awarapan”. This time they have teamed up in hope of creating “Jannat” (Heaven). Movie is about to release on May 2, 2008 and music is already on air. This movie has our kissing guru ‘Emraan hashmi’ who has been very lucky with all this movies in terms of popularity of songs.

Lets get down to what Bhatt camp and Pritam has offered through songs of the Movie “Jannat”.

‘Zara si dil mein de jagah tu’: Album opens with voice of KK’s lend to meaningful lyrics weaved with soothing music. It’s a soft still a rock number with minimal usage of instrument which includes guitar, drums and violin as main in the background. Pritam was wise enough to let KK’s voice mesmerize us completely. This was the first song which came on air and successfully created the urge to listen to the rest. The remix version of the same song called Power Ballad is slower than the original and I have no idea why it is called Power Ballad when it’s actually slow. The “O O Oaa O” of the songs will surely give you a kick but will remind you Pritams previous work in “Woh Lamhe”. Rating: Lyrics: 4/5; Music: 3/5; Singer: 4.5/5 Mood: Wooing a Gal, Best emotional blackmail recipe Best Time to Play:On Blank calls

‘Lambi Judai - Chaar Dinon Ka Pyaar O Rabba' –Stop scratching your head, agreed this one is similar to Subhash Ghai “Hero” movie. Three variation of the same song is available but each one can be cherished because they are identical in terms of singers music etc. You call it Inspiration, flick anything but I would thank Bhatt camp to rope in “All in One” gem responsible for this brilliant composition. Kamran Ahmed the lead vocalist of ‘82Rockers’ band has not only crooned the song (Remixed Ver)  but also written and composed it. I will not be surprised if his piercing voice is mistaken with Atif Aslam but he surely makes a place in everyone’s heart. If you will be asked which female singer can sing this one well and the answer will be “Richa Sharma”, thankfully they chose her for this, she will remind you of “Reshma”(who sang this number in Hero). Richa Sharma has done more than justice to this song and especially keeping in mind the fact there are other two variations sung by male singers, her voice compliments the song. Rating:Lyrics: 3.5/5; Music: 3.5/5; Singer: 4.5/5 Mood: failed relationship Best Time to Play:In emotional hours it will help you cry, Driving can be the second option.

“Haan tu hain” comes third in the row and has completely balanced the cassette by being “not so great” composition. Use of instrument like tabla makes it sound very stale which indeed it is. Some female singer appears in between and murmur few English lines which make it more pathetic. KK tried well but couldn’t help because even the lyric isn’t new or great. It reminds you of music during late 80’s and Pritam no ones wants to hear them so it’s a “BAD TRY”. Rating:Lyrics: 1.5/5; Music: 2/5; Singer: 2.5 /5 Mood: Not listening  Best Time to Play:Not Listening

“Door na ja” – another surprise in this album is Rana Mazumder'svoice which perfectly builds the emotions required for the song. Song starts with soothing fresh voice of rana with some string shaking in the background, half a minute through you hear hard core rock solid set of electric guitars one after the other which builds your mood further. “Aur kuch der mujhe khud se juda rehne de” (let me feel connected to myself for some more time) lyrics is powerful and appropriate numbers of instrument makes with right usage of the music makes it a well balanced song. Rana has done a phenomenal job to a tough song as it involves various notes of pitch.  Rating:Lyrics: 3.5/5; Music: 3.5/5; Singer: 4/5 Mood: Missing someone Best Time to Play:Lonely, Driving.

“Jannat Jahan”: Let’s revisit college days, remember those colleges young rock bands singers who use to sing and play like there is no tomorrow. Pritam probably choose to flicks the original singer/composers instead of flicking the song to claim it’s his. He managed to get “Fossils Rock band” fame Rupam Islam. This being the title song is crooned and composed with an energy which pops out with every string of electric guitar and tune of piano. Rupams debut into bollywood with such a dazzling performance makes him a desirable singer of all the “Yo gen!!”. Lyricist Neelesh Misra needs to be given his share of credit for writing the title track hummable as well as rocking.Being the title track people will expect more from this one and thankfully Rupam did not leave any blunt edges to disappoint anyone. Album ends with this one and its act in a favour of bhatts because the flavour sticks to your senses and songs to your mouth. Rating:Lyrics: 4/5; Music: 5/5; Singer: 5/5 Mood: Party, Fun, Pub Best Time to Play:Discotheque, Pubs, Driving.

Music director and Lyricist: Pritamhas accepted beforehand in an interview that all the songs are not original they are inspired (read it as flicked) by other songs. He has done a decent job but the best decision was to rope in Rana Majumdar and Rupan Islam for two tracks out of five and both the tracks will be chartbusters for sure.

Sayeed Quadri & Neelesh Mishra has done a commendable job with all the song. Except “Haan tu Hain” other song lyrics are meaningful and people can relate to.

Overall Rating: Bhatt camp has managed to keep us intact to another album once you start listening you will go on and on. Four out of five songs comes with the fresh feel (new singers being one of the reasons) so you don’t feel the monotony while listening even when you put them on the repeat mode (the way I do). The album belongs to young generation music because it’s vibrant at the same time classy in nature. I don’t believe pritam’s claim but we have no other choice to give him the credit.

My actual rating 3.5 stars.
