A film,where there are motor bikes,heroine in a bikini playing violin,a villain with ‘surma’ and a hero who dances whenever possible,is called ”Janasheen”.Despite having all the ‘masala’ to attract the audiences,it falls short of expectations.Why?The simple answer is that there is no story,in this film.Do you want your patience to be tested?Do you want your brain to be confused?Then,go see this movie!
THE FILM:
”Janasheen”,produced and directed by Feroz Khan stars,Feroze Khan,Fardeen Khan,Celina Jaitley,Archana Puran Singh,Yash Tonk,Kashmirah Shah and Johnny Lever.This was,the most awaited film of Bollywood,because of some ‘bold’ scenes by its actress but has now turned an unattractive fare for the audiences.The simple reasons are:
1.The film postponed,and from nowhere has come out to release.
2.The greatest reason is that,it has released with Dharma productions,”Kal Ho Naa Ho”.
With these 2 reasons,it has very little chances to become successful.
THE CHARACTERS AND PERFORMANCES:
1.Saba Karim Shah(Feroze Khan):Saba Karim Shah wanted the freedom of Afghanistan,and fought for this purpose.He has a tiger with him,supports ’surma’,is bald and loves doing wicked things.Feroze Khan,as this ex freedom Afghanistani fighter,is the best performer of the movie.Compared to the other immature performers of the movie,he excels but that is certainly not a reason enough to see this movie.
2.Lucky(Fardeen Khan):Lucky, is a champion in bike racing,in Australia.He hates his father,and loves having such race competitions.Fardeen Khan,is a big letdown,in this movie,as Lucky.He seriously needs to polish up his acting skills,to be a superstar in Bollywood.In an interview,he was saying that this character,which he is playing in “Janasheen” is very different and mature from his other characters,but,frankly speaking,the worst part of his character is that it is not mature at all.
3.Jessica(Celina Jaitley):Jessica is a complete Bollywood heroine,who is emotional,sings and yes,plays violin.She is partially blind and also loves Lucky since her childhood.In short,she provides the love angle to this movie.Celina Jaitley,is very good at wearing a bikini,but not at acting.If her performance in ”Khel” was pathetic,then this performance is WORSE THAN THAT.Her voice,is as usual,dubbed.She doesn`t know how to cry in a movie and performs artificially.You can`t even sympathize with her dumb,oh sorry,blind character.
Of the rest,they are also very disappointing.Harsh Chaya as Virendra Kapoor,is least convincing.Archana Puran Singh overacts.Johnny Lever`s over-the-top performance will get on your nerves.Yash Tonk doesn`t impress that much,after playing the Love Guru in ”Ishq Vishk”.Kashmirah Shah looks strange and stupid.
THE STORY:
ACTUALLY NONE!
Lucky loves racing motor bikes in Australia,and wants to continue racing,all the time.His father wants him back in India,but he hates his father.His father`s death calls him back to India.A freedom fighter of Afghanistan,sees Lucky,and finds his dead son in him.He becomes Lucky`s Godfather and by this he gets himself in a problem.In Lucky`s life too problems start to begin.Always,darkness surrounds him.There are lots of secrets which Lucky doesn`t know.What are they?What is the mission of Saba Karim Shah?This is actually the story of the film, in a nutshell.

THE WORK OF THE CREW:
Feroze Khan fails to evoke interest in the audiences,as a director.No one can feel for any character.Everything seems so artificial,that you feel,it is a movie and when you feel so,it means that the movie failed to do what it had to and that is,gripping your attention.There are so many stupid scenes,for instance when kashmirah comes to Yash Tonk,to give him money,first of all she dances,under trees.Another scene which is very stupid,is the one where Celina looks at her brother,Yash,with one eye missing,and soon we find out that someone was actually wearing a mask.Suparn Varma`s screenplay is poor,because the film gets very confusing.The characters of the film have been sketched very poorly and carelessly.The most important thing you`ll feel is that why Lucky used to hate his father.Jessica`s character is also so stupid and filmi.She is dancing in sari,singing so emotionally and overreacting,that you`ll ask yourself ”WHAT HAPPENED”?Celina`s love for Fardeen is also not well defined.Neelabh Kaul`s cinematography is wonderful,shooting every scene of the film,wonderfully.The motor bike racing competition scenes actually make you feel as if you`re watching STAR SPORTS.Afghanistan is also shot in a very stylish manner.Background Music is another asset of the movie.In the motor bike racing competition scenes,it is the background score,which excites you the most.Anand Raj Anand`s music is good,but the songs pop out of nowhere.There are so many songs in the film,that the pace of the movie slows down.”Nashe Nashe Main Yaar”,is a bit vulgar but has a good music.”Ab ke par poonam main”,is not required at all,and makes Celina look even more dumb.”Marhaba”,will simply remind you of ”Jaan Leva” from ”Moksha”.”Pyaar Hone Laga Hai”,show you some body exposure by the heroine.”Teri Chahat Main pagal Hoon” is okay where as ”Chahat Ka Maara” could have been easily deleted.
ON THE WHOLE:
”Janasheen” has nothing much to offer you.It has a lackluster script,dull performances (except for Feroze Khan),and weak direction.When all of these qualities are added,they turn ”JAAN LEVA” (fatal) for the viewers,instead of ”Janasheen”.All said and done,this is a film,which is worth missing.
