Jamna Pyari is directed by Thomas Sebastian who earlier directed a movie Maya Bazaar which was a disaster at that time. It’s been a while since he directed a movie. He has made a comeback with a full time comedy movie for family audience.
Vasuttan(Kunchacko Boban) is the son of Vasu who was helping hand for the problems faced people in his town Wadakkanchery. Vasu dies while saving children in drowning bus. So apparently Vasuttan goes through his father’s path by helping others and he is also a well known auto driver. A girl named Parvathy(Gayathri Suresh) comes to Vasuttan’s life for a help which is literally impossible for Vasuttan. But Vasuttan takes up the job. But the job is to find 100 jamna pyari(a breed of goat) and a male highly fertile specific breed of Jamna pyari. And he has almost small amount of days left to finish the job before the bankruptcy happens. Can Vasuttan deliver 100 jamna pyari on time?
On the technical side film is OK. But director should have been little more careful while making this movie. There are some lagging portions and tried to stretch the small story. The cinematography feels fit for this comedy film. And songs they were good especially the Thrissur slang song which remained in the tongue after film. The script had some nice dialogue in Thrissur slang and overall done its part.
Kunchacko Boban’s role as Vasuttan was appropriate. Gayathri Suresh was not good enough but looks good for a heroine but by performance was not apt. Joy Mathew, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Aju Varghese, Neeraj Madhav they done their part well with some engaging comedy scenes. Renji Panicker was the villain of the film and he was strong and bold for the role.
The film doesn’t feel mature enough for a 10th grade student. Story feels the standard of a comic magazine and highly predictable too. We know what will happen next. It’s just a cliche story. There are comedies here and there in the movie some are good enough for a laugh others we will not even mind it.
My Rating: 2/5
