Jailer, the most awaited silver screen sensation which has left millions of Rajini Kant fans and movie lovers in a frenzy over the past few months has finally hit the screens.

I usually like to watch films on the big screen but Watching Rajni Sir movies on big screen is truly magical. It was nice to see the fans of the superstar with a cult following thronged the cinema halls and celebrated with dancing, cheering & rejoicing in his return after a period of two years.

Jailer starts well, without wasting time, Rajinikanth (Muthu) a retired police officer who leads a normal life with a beautiful family. His son Arjun is a sincere police officer dealing with dreaded criminal Varma (Vinayakan). Arjun risks life and fights against Varma and goes missing. But things aren’t easy as Varma threatens Muthu’s family. How Muthu fights back is the rest of the story.

First half of the film is entertaining, and has all the necessary commercial elements. On the downside, the length is indeed pretty long and there are parts that could've been edited for a smoother narration.

Like always, Jailor is once again a complete Rajini show all the way. Right from the word go, it is Rajni and his sheer screen presence which holds the audience throughout the film. The superstar excels in every department, and carries the entire film on his shoulders.

The film has an ensemble cast and significant cameos of Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar & Jackie Shroff is seen in a decent roles. The supporting cast Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Sunil, Mirnaa Menon and Yogi Babu bring good performances, adding depth to the narrative.

Director Nelson comes up with a decent story line and tries to give the film an edge with some interesting scenes during the beginning part of the film. Certain emotional and humorous scenes have been executed quite well. Rajini’s emotions and character showcase Nelson's brilliance as a director.

Music composer Anirudh Ravichander shines and rescues the film. The Hukum & Kaavaalaa songs are well composed. The background score adds weight to the crucial sequences.

Just like all his previous movies, even Jailor banks majorly on Rajinikanth’s unmatchable charisma. Jailor is a treat for hardcore Rajini fans as Thalaiva enthrals them with his trademark style.

Jailer may not be a flawless cinematic masterpiece, but it offers an entertaining and heartfelt journey of a jailer worth watching.
