A small city no-nonsense cop SP Abha Mathur goes against a corrupt local district MLA who is supported by the DSP(played by Prakash Jha) and a bunch of other cops. It's again a good cop bad cop drama where land mafia and corrupt politicians get to call the shots.
The movie casts light on some socio-political issues like land grabbing, farmer suicides, dirty politics and corrupt police, and tackles them with finesse. Some of the action scene stand out for they are realistic but the movie also has its share of unbelievable action.
Priyanka Chopra looks convincing as a cop but still cannot do much to up the momentum of the movie. Director Prakash Jha makes his acting debut and has delivered a powerful performance. Prakash Jha aka rogue cop DSP Bhola Nath Singh has a great screen presence and his role is as big as Priyanka's. Watch out for him in the second half. He just gets better. Manav Kaul as politician Babloo Pandey fails to make a mark and rather turns out to be just another Bollywood villain.
The movie is interesting in bits and pieces. Some parts stand out while during the rest you miss its prequel. Considering the plot and narration, it's just another movie but if you talk about performances, they are not to be missed. All-in-all an ok movie which is not up to the standards of Gangaajal.
