They met by chance…they fall in love by chance…they helped each other unknowingly…at end it all paid back…will they get married by chance too???

Aditya (Shahid Kapoor) is son of a leading industrialist.  His parents got divorced and he was grown under father's protection.  He hates his mother where she ran away from his father and it destroyed his life.  To add his worries his girl friend is getting married to somebody else.  A totally depressed Aditya walk finally landed in a train.  In the train he met annoyingly talkative Geet (Kareena Kapoor).   Aditya was planning to commit suicide and a timely presence by Geet saved him to overcome the moments of depression.    The Aimless Aditya gets down in another station where Geet tried to get him back and both missed the train.   Both started a journey back to Geet's hometown Bhatinda in Punjab.

On the way Geet conveyed that her marriage is fixed with Manjeet who was her childhood boyfriend.  The love story didn't grown with them, where the families decide to get them married.  Geet has a boyfriend Anshuman (Tarun Arora) and she plans to elope.   Geet, who have the nature of taking everything lightly and throw simple and psychological approach to each difficult situation but talk like a crazy girl impressed Aditya.  Geet's conservative family plans the marriage of Manjeet and Geet, where Geet and Aditya run away from the house in a night.  They parted in Manali where Anshuman lives.  Inspired by Geet, Aditya concentrate on his ancestral business and was an instant success.    Jab We Met is a story of these pair's meeting again and their relation which grows through chances.    How they meet again, how the family drama sorted out etc. are to be seen onscreen.

Imtiaz Ali's Jab We Met is a light entertainer romance which will surely leave some smiles when you travel the journey with the leading pair.     There is nothing new in the storyline.  However, the vibrant character of Geet(Kareena) lightens up the screen which makes the film watchable.   The director was successful in keeping the audience attention throughout the first half.  In the second half the film lagged.  Dialogues are well written and though the pace was a bit over.

There are too many storied untold.   Too many eloping.  (There are 4 eloping already in the film and Geet proposed some for her sister too…Lol!!!).   The central characters lost their cause somewhere by end and they were just moving by others actions which made their characters handicapped.   Climax was an easy compromise.

Jab We Met is an all out Kareena film.  She overacts in some scenes, but while playing a crazy girl talking all time one has to expect such scenes I believe.  Shahid was ok, where the character demanded him to be gloomy for half of the film.   The supporting cast all did an average job.   I will say however the director could get better job done by the actors.

Music by Pritam is a highlight of the movie.  It is not that the music is of top class.  However, it is one of the genres which compel you to move your feet with its rhythm.   Add to it the choreography lead by Saroj Khan & Ahmed Khan - the musical score with choreography makes a good impression.   For any romance film music play a vital part to give the romantic feel.  Infact the classical romantic feel is missing, but a mood of celebration was presented in this new style romance.

Cinematography is not up to mark.   Just average.   It could have been much better.  Kareena have a beautiful camera face where the cinematographer failed to give some remarkable shots.   No close ups or landscapes impress.   Background music does not show any impact.  Editing is ok.

The movie has a comic flavour which in fact is the attraction of the movie.  Kareena's naughtiness surely keep one smiles, where Tarun Arora's character leave more than a laugh by end.

Overall, Jab We Met is not a technically brilliant film but performance of Kareena, well visualized music and the romantic comedy flavour can make the movie worth a watch.

At the end of the review, question remains.  Can love be by chance?  In War and love everything is possible.  Everything is justified.
