What Did I want to Prove???. Review on Jab We Met

Yet another review from Smita and yet another on Jab We Met….

Well before you all jump with guns on me that me being a Kareena basher what am I doing here; let me justify my review…

Well in recent times I was hurt badly…I was told that am not a real movie buff…why? Well since I hated actor X I had declared that I’ll not watch her movie and I already knew that she will be bad. Well I thought I should bee punished for being judgmental. So I thought I should punish myself and check out whether my bias was justified or should I watch a movie without seeing who the lead actor/ actress is…bole to moh maya tyago…be practical….

We missed the beginning of the movie, but started with Kareena entering the train…

It’s the story of Aditya(Shahid Kapoor) and Geet(Kareena Kapoor). Aditya has failed in business and love. Geet is a vivacious girl, full of life and ever talking.

The story is how these two complete strangers meet on a train and start an unexpected & beautiful journey through Mumbai - Ratlam – Kota – Bhatinda – Manali – Simla - Bhatinda. Its about missing your train and ctaching up life.Geet gives a lease of life to Aditya. Through her he learns to live & enjoy life. Through her recaptures his old passion for singing. He on the other hand helps Geet in uniting with her love Ashutosh.

The movie takes a turn when Aditya comes to know that Geet has been missing for 9 months i.e. the time when he had left her at Simla. Where is Geet? What happens to Aditya? Does he feel anything for Geet or is he just a knight in shining amour? Watch the movie to know better….

The only scene which I carried back with me

Hotel Sequence where Kareena is hell bent on booking the room at hourly basis unaware with what it really means. Shahid’s expressions here are priceless.

Imitaz Ali…he is a deft story teller for sure. His last offering Socha Na Tha was also good. Though both his movies are not path breaking cinema but can entertain you. BTW he is specializing in getting couples eloped….his last movie also showed the same thing…

Shahid Kapoor,well I have always liked him from Ishq Vishq days. He is perfect as the young business man. His expressions and subdued acting is perfect balance for Kareena Kapoor. he is good.

Kareena Kapoor **being a certified chatterbox, I couldn’t relate to KK.  Why? Had I already made my mind that will dislike her? Actually No. I quite liked the trailers of movie and felt that may be she is different. But after the watching it I can easily say she has overacted in many places and doesn’t sound spontaneous to me. Priety Zinta would have been the apt choice for this role. But yes, the contrast in 2nd half is very good and she is likeable in there, subdued and all.

Anshuman I have just one question for this character…he has acted dumb or it’s his natural acting? He is for sure hilarious with his dead pan style…I wonder how cud anyone choose him as life partner.

Rest of the cast is adequate with less scope for any performance.

Cinematographycould have been better; the movie has such good potential as far as locales were concerned.

Music…well the few songs are quite good…I specially like Poocho Na poccho& Tumse hi Shaam Aati hai….though several songs could have been avoided.

I couldn’t digest quite many things in the movie…

~ When I travel from my home to office(hardly a kilometer) my 8 inch mane gets spoiled badly. How did Kareena Aunty manage to keep her tresses so wonderful in her whole journey?

~ How does Ashutosh has a change of heart suddenly?

~ Why would a female try to get down at a station for a stranger?

~ When KK is shown going home from hostel has she told no body? Why doesn’t her family get worried when she doesn’t reach on time?

~ Kareena Kapoor's character is quite inconsistent.

There are many more questions in my mind but then it’s a Bollywood movie.

Though the movie is entertaining in places but is not path breaking cinema. It can easily be seen at home on a CD or when it comes on TV.

My rating wud be 2.5/5 But MS Doesn't allow it:(

*Kareena Kapoor bashers can easily avoid this one. She can be a headache at places.

(Though irrelevant but am happy she has broken up with Shahid as it reduces the possibility of both coming in the same frame. So I can enjoy Shahid movies.)

 If you feel strongly about something please say it freely and believe in yourself….how is it connected to the review?

Ohhh I went in to see this one just to prove that I can watch a movie despite disliking the actress and am a movie buff. But why should I prove myself and to whom. Don't fall in a trap like me watch movie if you really want to watch one.though the biggest learning is to avoid getting emotional after discussions in MS.we all know who our real frenz are.

Think that the review is uselss? So do I;)

PS I expect only VU from my circle of frenz.nothing less than that;)
