Wow .it's been a long time that I have logged in to mouth shut, I had almost forgotten my password but somehow managed to log in:) Though I had not posted any review in a longggg time but I have been regularly visiting mouth shut specially to check reviews posted by Mr fenil, Virat and pranav(you guys rock, keep penning)
Coming to the review of movie let me admit I was very eager to watch this movie for various reasons first because it was Mr Yash chopras last movie who according to me was and will always be king of romance, nobody Conveys romace with conviction the way Mr Yash chopra did and other reason was pairing of katrina and shahrukh khan .
I would not be focussing on the plot or the story of movie as the same has been discussed by others in their reviews coloum, my apology for the same, what I would like to highlight is what's good, what's bad and my final views on the movie .
WHAT'S GOOD: The old vintage romance Showcased by Mr chopra, That man taught a country of a billion the art of loving. Those subtle, nuanced, romantic sweet nothings that were showcased from the brain of that man, have always had a way with people – no matter how much they would find themselves to be impervious to that emotion called love, Mr Yash chopra in his last movie had created that magical world for the last time on silver screen and this itself is a reason worthy enough to experience his last Vision of romance on silver screen, Mr Yash chopra take a bow!
Acting by all the leads are good, special mention should be given to Anushka and Srk, I know lot of people had their personal views on Sharukhs acting methods, many say that he gives the same expression in all his movies but according to me all the superstars do have limited expressions starting from Mr Rajesh khanna and even the perfectionist Mr Amir khan, but mind you this is what makes them superstars but not necessary great actors, having said that he has done a good job, he has done exactly what is expected from him.
Music by Ar Rehman is good if not excellent but thanks to some great cinematography and choreography the songs look and sounds better on silver screen, ishq Shava is one example, watch it on the big screen and you will understand exactly what I meant.
Last but not least the cinematography which gave us the mesmerising locales of Pehalgam and Ladakh come alive on celluloid. London, on the other hand, is beautiful – be it in winter, rain or summer.
WHATS BAD: Their are lot many loopholes in the script and the killer of them is the running time of the movie and at 3 hrs running time this movie sometimes test your patience specially the second half, I personally feel if the movie had been edited better it could have made the movie far more better
In short if you are used to watching a movie that's short and sweet then this may not be your cup of tea.
Though Srk has done a commendable job but making him look and act like 22 years old didn't worked for me, (he has an army officer was top notch though)
FINALVERDICT: As I had mentioned in my title this is ALMOST a perfect adieu to the king of romance, Its not a perfect movie as per the standadrds of Mr yAsh chopra, in its 3 hrs running time it takes you on a roller coaster ride, few scenes may make you scream with excitement at the same time some scenes may bore you to death, i personally feel this film will evoke two extreme reactions, either you may like it or you might find it absurd but Still if you are a fan of old school romance like me and if you want to come out of the world created by movies like Bodyguard And rowdy rathod then you may not come disappointed watching this movie.This are the kind of movies that Bollywood has stopped making so cherish it for the last time .
Last but not least, Thankyou Mr Yash Chopra for taking us to some magical world with every film that you had directed, Thankyou for making us believe in love and relationship, Im sure a lot of them incuding me will remember you Jab tak hai jaan .:)
