JAB TAK HAI JAAN -> Indeed a Yash Chopra romance with underlying theme of "amar prem" , "undying love and longing till death do us apart"! It was meant to be Great Yash Chopra's final goodbye to the cinema and he leaves us with a love story which if you go by the modern ethics and logical inquisitiveness. you are bound to get a rude shock, but if you go there with a mind to witness a magnum opus of a romance and faith in god , as a "diehard" romantic [by diehard I mean, not the Bruce Willis style, I mean the SRK style :)] and try to visualize the cinema you might still njoy the mint fresh locales, beautiful looking people, good songs and some tongue-in-cheek humour from SRK whose life can be described as " love, , , , jab tak hai jaan " .

Romance is the genre where SRK excels and this one is no different, he fits in easily as Samar Anand , the quintessential lover boy, the person who lives his life to the fullest making people around him happy and also as the Major Samar Anand, a bomb disposal squad leader with Indian Army, who has lost his love forever and the only purpose of his life is to serve his country with a bravado (he never wears bomb disposal jacket ;)) and gutso which though unrealistic , is also endearing for the wonderful acting in those frames by SRK, he embraces death every time so that he can die but every time he lives and longs for his love , aka, jab tak hai jaan! Katrina looks good and also acts good with her facial expressions et all, SRK inspired I suppose. Anushka steals the show for me with her care free depiction of "Akira" , a sexy lass whose life is suddenly going to be changed forever. At, 3 hours +, the movie is painstakingly long for a surreal romance, is very slow for the modern audience, the numerous full length songs (though good) further delay the progress and you can see the audience getting restless at more than one occasion.

A typical Yash ji film but Alas! he has done much better works than this in the huge legacy of movies he lives behind. Disappointed to some extent only because the expectations were huge but again, its the FINAL SWANSONG of a person whose contribution to Bollywood is second to none, and his final offering though not technically brilliant, is worth a watch just for the ""dew drop"" feel good romance which , after him, very few would dare to portray on the silverscreen in the way he did .JAB TAK HAI JAAN -> will be remembered as YASH ji's final cinematic act , and will do good business riding on the factors other than the movie itself. Go and watch the celebration of a legend, YASH CHOPRA, only if you have the patience enough for this love story :))
