B GRADE+C GRADE= NO GRADE. Review on Jaani Dushman

I did not expect a lot of rush in the theater on first day since it was raining and this is not a Sunny movie only (this is Punjab and interior both and I was on a Holiday). But to my utter horror, a huge line awaited me as I went to park the car. Obviously not many takers for advance booking so a lot of rush for current window. When I went inside with a lot of trouble and dhakka-mukka, it was a sight I have not seen after Gadar. Balcony was full and the Dress Circle was a complete Mela. Noone was sitting, it was jam packed, not only sitting wise but even standing wise. In essence Stalls were running at over 500% audience atleast. Obviously not easy to watch a movie in a crowded theater. But everyone did and there were dances everytime Sunny Deol is on screen and coins were sprinkled liberally whenever Manisha Koirala would be on screen. Johny Lever was another hit fellow. It was the whole tamasha which stayed on in my mind rather than the movie. It has been a while since I saw a movie in theater in interiors and my God! it is completely a wild experience.

The movie in itself in one word is CRAP. There is no start, no middle and no end. It is all a series of fights and special effects. If u thought Devdas was loud, this one can put ur ears in serious danger of deafening. Background score is a loud drum and shrill brass plate mixed sound which is perhaps needed to get ur attention back to screen from observing the nearby audience. The story in itself is so stupid that u dont want to waste ur time writing about it. In essence it is RAAZ+NAGINA. Only here, the Bhootni or Chudial or Buri Atma does manage to kill the people (two of them I can recall, please inform me if I missed some). Naag is a unique naag who first wants to have good amount of HaathaPaai and dishum dishum before he bites and killes his victims. The story is as this that once upon a time there lived a naag and a naagin who loved each other very much and they showed it by singing and dancing so much that, one fine day unhone maharishi ki tapasya bhang kar di. So furious was the rishi, that he gave them a 'shraap', in effect of which, the naagin would die an untimely death and the naag would remain isolated. A 'clause' was later included in this 'shaap' that naag would meet his love only when she takes her 'punarjanm', and that would happen in the 21st century. In 21st century the lady is now in love with Sunny Deol. But, here too, she has a good number of enemies. They rape her and deceive her to implicate the whole of bollywood ( akshay, sunil, sonu, aftaab, sharad kapoor, aditya pansholi, arshad warsi, rajat bedi and sidhharth) in this conspiracy. So long and endless is the list of people involved that the director needs more than two hours of 'dishum dishum' to get rid of the 'innocent culprits'. The Atma and her Naag devta kill so many people that after a while u just forget to keep count. There must be some 10 killings atleast. The number of B-grade stars in the movie is enormous. Everyone from Arshad Warsi to Rajat Bedi to Sharad Kapoor is there. Sonu Nigam lost a bit of sense since he chose to sign the movie. He almost looks like a bacha infront of all the ageing stars in the movie. There is also an interesting bit about a locket which is more stupid that u dont know whether to respect it, laugh at it or cry at director's imagination. U better find that one out for yourself. There are actresses also and never mind if they are there for just two scenes only.

Of the cast, Sunny Deol is there just because they need a climax hero. Akshay Kumar is blessed with a good role and fights well and is the only one who looks decent. Sunil Shetty has only one scene worth mentioning. Rest are there for a fight scene and thats it. Songs are all time pass and so faltoo that audiences wanted them forwarded. Direction is non-existant so lets not even talk about it. Cameramen was possibly asleep while shooting hence u have all sorts of funny camera angles. Special effects are anything but special. Editing is liberal to take into account a whole Hindi film Industry.

Will the film run? Ofcourse, it is a must watch for once to see how masses just loved a movie with dhishum dhishum and cheap comedy. No logic or brain needed, if u intend using ur brain to watch the movie, prepare for severe brain damage. The movie is destined a long run in interiors though plz. dont kill Akshay, he is only one who looked decent in the movie. If Akshay is most decent in the movie, I dont need to talk about others.

VERDICT:: SUPER HIT/MAYBE BUMPER IN INTERIORS
