Heartwarming!

The plot: Struggling actor Salman Khan (Suhaan) is drowning in debt when his ex-wife (Preity Zinta) sends him a court notice stating that instead of the monthly alimony of Rs.25000 (which he has not paid in a year), she wants a one time settlement of 50 lakhs. His uncle (Anupam Kher), who's also his lawyer advises him to arrange for the money but is well aware that it's not possible for Salman to do so.

That's when God blesses them (after aquick song of course!). Akshay Kumar lands up at their doorstep searching for a lost college love (who just happens to be Preity Zinta). He is aware that she was married but is willing to take her into his life. However, he doesn't know that Salman is the ex-hubby.

Anupam Kher advises Salman that if he can get Preity to fall in love with Akshay (Champu), then according to the law he doesn't have to pay any alimony. That's when Salman decides to go to America, with the last bit of his uncle's savings to try and dig himself out of the legal mess.

What ensues in New York City is a great (Read:hilarious) con. Salman tries his best to get Akshay and Preity hooked up.

Does Salman succeed?

What happens when he finds out Preity's given birth to a baby girl (for some reason named Suhaani-the director sure had a dearth of names, or wait-maybe it was because she wanted to be reminded of her terribly incompetent ex-husband)?

Does Salman fall in love all over again? Does he want his daughter?

Who gets who? What role does Preity's family play? Does Akshay find out that Salman is the ex-husband? Are there really six other people in the world who look just like you?

If you can get past the first 30 minutes of the movie, the rest of the story unfolds smoothly. The drama is underplayed and comedy takes centrestage. Brace up for crackling perfomances by Salman as the adorable Suhaan, Akshay as your local geek-turned-NASA-scientist (Champu) and the evergreen Preity Zinta (Piya).Anupam Kher (as the midgit) pulls off a rib-tickling surprise perfomance.

A couple of extra songs do drag the last lap of the movie but the sudden intensity of emotional upheavel (after all the determined comedy) has you glued to your chair.

The cinematography is great. Akshay and Preity look fantastic. But the movie belongs to Salman Khan. He pulls off yet another romantic comedy act with practiced ease, and manages to give you a great reason to go to the movies this Diwali!

All this plus a surprise ending!
