Hi friends,

Back with a movie review after a long time...

I was eagerly waiting for both the hottest movies of the festival, Don and Jaaneman.

After reading initial reviews for both, I decided to postpone Don for a while and grabbed tickets for Jaanemen last night.

Well one thing I would definitely like to say about the film is that I ve not seen a movie thats as colorful as Jaaneman. And I think the cinematographer and the Art director deserve a standing ovation for it. The film has a rich and vibrant look throughout and its a treat to eyes. Similarly the music and the background score is fantastic and present a treat to ears. The film is also high on emotional quotient and that makes it linger on your memory long after the show is over.

Now onto the review....

Plot:

The plot is genuinely hatke. The story starts at a point where most bollywood movies end. Suhaan(Salman Khan) and Piya(Preity Zinta) are divorced and Suhaan has to give an allimony of Rs.50 lakhs to Piya. There's no way Suhaan can raise that kind of money. At that time like an angel, Agastya(Akshay Kumar) comes to his rescue as Piya's collegemate nerd. Suhaan encourages him to go back to Piya and not only encourages him but also helps to get close with Piya.

The twist comes wjen Suhaan falls in love with Piya all over again and Agastya then comes to know that Suhaan is none else than Piya's ex husband.

I wont make it a spoiler by revealing the end. But the climax is interesting nevertheless.

Performances:

Now, to the performances.

Salman Khan, as Suhaan is undoubtedly the best of the lot. He makes you laugh, he makes you cry and all so effortlessly. This has to be one of his best performances.

One doesn't expect to see Akshay Kumar as a nerd and one who doesn't have the knack to talk to girls. But he plays Agastya to perfection. And I can say, all our nerd friends would sure identify with him.

Preity Zinta as Piya is competent though I personally feel, age has started to show on her face. Her performance is appropriate to say the least.

Other characters doesn't deserve a mention. Anupam Kher has been wasted in an insignificant role.

Music:

Music has to be an essential part of a romantic movie and Jaaneman is no exception. Anu Malik has done a good job with the music and the placement of the songs is just perfect. In fact I sometimes fely as if I am watching a Broadway musical than a Bollywood movie.

Though all the songs are good, Ajnabi Shehar is the best of the lot.

Overall, Jaaneman is a colorful and vibrant movie with good humour, high emotional quotient and decent entertainment.

Comments are eagerly awaited.
