The title of this movie and the tag line that says "when do you know its love" screams at the top of its voice what the flick is all about. The promos too very well convey the theme of the movie. Unlike many other movies where trailer mein kuch aur and movie mein kuch aur hai.
We have had abundant movies made on this theme but what makes one different from other is the way it is treated. This movie marks the debut of Imran Khan and a second stint for Genelia Dsouza in Bollywood.This movie is more or less similar to the various teen flicks we have witnessed now and again. But whats different with this is that there are a bunch of new fresh faces to look forward to. One very big motivation for anyone to watch this movie is that it has been produced by Aamir Khan, someone who is known to be a perfectionist.
The lead actor Imraan khan is quite solid in his performance considering this is his first movie. Genelia does full justice to her go getter girl image. One of the good parts in the movie is that the characterization is to the point. All the friends fit perfectly in their roles. The film goes in story telling mode where all the friends are waiting at the airport for Jai(Imraan) and Aditi(Genelia) to arrive. These friends tell the story of both of them to a girl who is Jig girlfriend since she feels akward coming to the airport to receive people who she doesnt know.
In the mid sections the movie comes back to the narrator and then waves back to the main story.The chemistry between Imraan and Genelia is to look out for.
The track between Ratna Pathak(Jai's Mom) and Jai has been handled superbly and in a very mature way. The films has it set of special / guest appreances ranging from ace actors like Nasserudin Shah to Arbaaz and Sohail Khan along with Paresh Rawal that add zing to the movie at appropriate time. But I felt that the Rathod khandaan thing was streched a lot and could have been avoided.
This is not an over the top good movie or something you have never seen. You will have memories of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Ishq Vishq coming your way while watching this movie. But the main USP is that it is a feel good one time watchable movie.
Music by AR Rahman is good but the two most promising songs "Pappu" and "Kabhi Kabhi Aditi" come well before the interval. The movie sets its pace post interval. The climax at the airport is not very believable but still the overall feel of the movie will definitely strike a chord. One very good thing about this movie is that it features all the emotions that you me and everyone has / is going on dealing with in his / her life, be it possessiveness, romance, frustration, jealously and what not.
One surprise package is this movie is Aditi's Brother Pratik Smita Patil. Thsi happens to be his first movie too and I must say this guy has acted very well as psyched out brother who does not like Jai(but for a reason thats too good).
All in all a one time watchable flick.
