We live in a complex world. With almost everyone running behind jobs and chasing money, with so many relationships breaking into pieces for solvable problems - we seem to have lost touch with the innocence and warmth that is within each one of us.

At times, all one needs to be happy is a rekindling of the good old days. Jaane Tu does exactly that. It takes us back to our college days when life revolved around friends and things were simpler...

It’s the story of Jai (Imraan Khan) and Aditi (Genelia) who are best buddies and yet, totally different from each other. While Jai is a non violent, soft and emotional guy, Aditi is a complete wild cat with her heart in the right place. The story goes on from how they are oblivious about the truth behind their seemingly platonic friendship and how they finally find each other...

But Jaane Tu also focuses on the other group members. Very purely and innocently, it talks about the heartbreaks, the hanging out with friends at clubs and discos, the talks late into the night...For more reasons than one, it will surely invoke in the viewers plenty of deja vu moments.

The cast is the highlight of the movie, along with the music - brilliantly

arranged by the maestro Rahman. Imraan excels in his first role and how. He is

brilliant as the quiet Jai and does well at all the emotional sequences as well as in the lighter ones. He has

a subtle charm that hits you like the freshness of the first rains. His

chemistry with Genelia is to watch out for. Genelia does really well too and

brings Aditi's character to life. She looks the part and puts her heart and

soul in the performance - so much so that it seems so very real, not a

performance at all. The rest of the cast is impressive as well, notably the

entire gang, Jai and Aditi's parents (featuring Naseerudin in a very special

role), Manjari as Jai's girlfriend Meghna and the Khan brothers - everyone fits

the character perfectly...

Yes, the climax is over the top and as filmy as it gets. But for once, I didn’t mind

a bit. By the time the final reels unroll, you are so in love with the characters that anything seems completely pardonable. The cinematography, may I add, is another highpoint. So is the choreography. The Aditi song and Pappu cant dance will invariably attract appluase.

Jaane woh ya jaane na...I surely do know that this movie is a perfect example

of how execution can render even the dullest and the most predictable of

storylines into a complete and wholesome entertainer. Hats off!
