Digital Media Receiver: Average. Review on JVC KD X50 BT

Recenly purchased JVC KD X50 BT in Bangalore for 6500 Rs. I was not keen about CD play back feature so went for this model which doesn't support CD play back . But can play back mp3 / wma files stored in memory stick via USB port, Bluetooth streaming is excellent,

Mic is very sensitive and phone conversations via bluetooth while driving is enjoyable and very clear ,

Phone book feature is available and stores around 1000+ entries - but scrolling and dialling from the stereo receiver is difficult. Lighting Colour can be customized . So one can adjust as per car's ambience / moods

It has 2 pairs of RCA Preouts at the read (Front and Rear) which can be connected to 4 channel amplifier. The Rear RCA Preout pair can be either used as a SUBWOOFER output (Low Pass Filter setting and High pass Filter settings get enabled and can be set as per requirement). In this mode once LPF is set only frequenCies less than LPF frequency set will go to sub-woofer via connected amplifier and frequencies above HPF frequency will go to the other Speakers. If this RCA preout is configured from menu as REAR then all frequencies will be available via this Line Out and LPF, HPF adjustments cannot be made.

Supports Steering controls (Interface to be bought separately)

One issue I found with this is that while in SUBWOOFER MODE the RCA output is very low that Sub-woofer output is near to nothing. This is one of the important features for audiophiles, people who love low frequency bass output from sub-woofers.

Remote is with basic functions.

Apart from this, overall this stereo is excellent overall package.

Note: I have checked with some of the other JVC products which do not have dedicated Sub-woofer RCA out (Instead it will be switchable between REAR and SUBWOOFER). All the models I checked, I faced this similar issue. But the ones with dedicated SUBWOOFER RCA Out were much better.

I spoke to JVC India. The service center guys were prompt to respond. As per their requrest I had to take the stereo to Koramangala service center. They are yet to figure out the issue. Will post the feedback soon.
