This is account of our trip to JRD International at Amboli (near Sawantwadi In district Sindhudurg) on July 10 to July 13th. We checked out in 6 hours and I got my refund from my travel agent. This is why......
We reached at 1PM (one hour after after check-in time) only to be told, rooms needed cleaning. So we said we had all the time in the world and they can clean up the room. Upon entering the room C-4 , I found the bathroom floor broken, hair on the basin sink and commode to be dirty. The bathroom also had cobwebs.
I asked for refund and wanted to leave. The trainee at reception coolly told me I cannot cancel my booking and he would give a better room. In the new room, curtains (like the earlier room) were not big enough and the pillows smelt of hair oil. Again we were not provided with a bathroom soap and they could give only one towel.
This delayed my lunch to 4 PM. At the restaurant, The rascal who claimed to be owner (actually owner’s son) said it would take half an hour for lunch and I should wait at my room. He and the establishment is only interested I selling liquor to the rest of the world. Legitimate customer be damned.
when we went back to the restaurant to have tea in the evening, the restaurant floor is littered with the leftovers. We also had to witness a battle between the unruly drunkards in the restaurant and servants of the hotel.
BTW, all A/C units are covered in plastic as no one (this according to the staff again) no one uses them in monsoon as it is too cold. But customers are charged for A/C cottage.
In the evening, a gentlemanat front desk (this one had a saffron dot on his forehead, so it seems he believed in GOD) started arguing with me without any provocation. He claimed his hotel is famed in the whole district. I had to tell him, ’’aap ka hotel badnaam hoga pure jilhe me’’
this place was attacked a couple of weeks ago due to political activities.
I don’t understand why a reputed magazine like Outlook would even list it in their Getaway special.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS HELLHOLE.
