It is simply the best book I have ever read. Pure genius. What makes this book genius - is the simple and raw language used in the book. It pours emotions, pains, smiles and passion. Simply best put as Lance says when someone asked him "What pleasure do you get by riding a bike?". He says "Pleasure? I do it for the pain of it".
The story begins with the most wonderful first paragraph - makes you feel one with Lance riding up and down the slopes of the French Alps. The book always comes with some wonderful catchlines - something very simply, but truly gets something stirring deep inside. Like, the time he visits Europe on his honeymoon - "In Europe, first time as a tourist. And in love".
But, the book is not all glory - it takes about pain, death. It talks about one gutsy lad's fight against cancer. Months of Chemo and a brain surgery, seems like ages of hell. But, the story again begins with his struggle back to life - to become a champion. And that's what he does - winning the 1999 Tour de France.
This is one classical book. For anyone who is down in life, for anyone who doesnt want to live, for someone who loves life, for someone who is successful. The book is for everyone.
