Path of Pathan. Review on Irfan Pathan

He entered the Indian cricket team at the age of 19 only. Irfan Pathan is a young lad who has done wonders in the Indian team. He has already become the spearhead of Indian bowling attack. Irfan & Zaheer Khan have been the duo who have given their best in the pace department of the team. Let me talk about Pathan only.

He has the ability to swing the ball with ease in the initial overs. Even though, expert commentators say that facing the swinging deliveries has become a cakewalk for batsmen, Pathan's deliveries have been able to torture a few noted ones like Jaysuriya & Youhana. Irfan joined the Indian cricket team in the year 2003 after the World Cup. He played his first series against Australia & proved his caliber there itself. He has made a scalp of only 4 wickets as his best for 19 runs,but has taken a lot of 3 wicket hauls in ODI's. His best bowling figures in Tests came against a shaky Bangladesh. He ripped through the top order of the Bangladeshi's by taking the wickets of all five top order batsmen. He did this twice in the 2 test match series against Bangladesh. Being young & bubbling with energy, Pathan has shown to the whole nation,what he is capable of.

To talk about the path taken by Pathan into cricket, it would be surprising to know that this young lad is from a poor village near Vadodra in Gujrat. He has come up the hard way. He started off his initial cricketing career as a right arm pacer,but when he found that his deliveries were not accurate, at least , to the target, he thought of giving up in bowling. His coach, asked him to try with his left arm. This did wonders! Can you imagine? An arm apart, a genius!

Someone might ask questions such as, what are his capabilities. Well, I guess it's quite prominent. He can bat! He can be a genuine all-rounder to the team. His herioc knocks have been the blazing 38 he hit of only 24 balls. Pathan can also bowl good bouncers. Once, when Salman was facing him, he bowled a perfect height bouncer which tempted him to hit the ball. This , resulted in the ball taking the outside edge of his bat towards the keeper.

One more interesting statistical fact is that Youhana , has been dismissed by Pathan, most of the times when they faced each other. Youhana had the name Irfan printed on his bat when this took place. Well, I guess that's all I know about Pathan. I wish to provide more information, but I also don't want to give wrong stuffs about him trying to elaborate.
