The IRCTC site is so much better than standing in a queue in sweltering Mumbai heat and also taking the nakras of those sitting on the other side of the window.
Apart from that its a great initiative by our rather passive railways its convenient at many levels. Let me state my in-laws wanted to go to Pune the very next day and by dear hubby booked tickets online(otherwise somebody would have to waste at least 2 hrs to physically book it).
Then in the evening it was realized that the tickets were booked of a 5.40 am train whereas we wanted 6.40 intercity now how would we rectify it, simple, I went on the site cancelled the old tickets booked new ones and was done in like about 15 mins. Awesome.
I think my generation is quite use to this comfort and luxury of getting things done in a jiffy and without sweating. all those who criticize it saying that it hangs so often gets slow at times, please tell me which site doesn't? Even Facebook gets slow.. very slow at times.
All I would say that its really a time and energy saver and of course there's room for improvement...and always will be.
