The IRCTC site( http://www.irctc.co.in) made life easy for us frequent travellers. Earlier for booking a simple train ticket we had to go and stand in a queue at 6 AM in the morning. But about 1 year ago IRCTC upgraded(downgraded would be closer to truth) their site. It looks better now. BUT IT DOES NOT WORK. So tomorrow I am again going to stand in a queue in the station.
Software field is a complex area. I have worked there for 15 years and I know it inside-out. Some young big talking wiz kids have come and messed up the smoothly running site. The spectacled old bureaucrats do not know head or tail of web apps.
I have seen worse scenarios: Some one in power has been bribed by a rival web-app to make the Govt site non-functional so that they can earn from their app. I see that a downloadable rival app has come where ticket booking is chargeable.
