MY KISH TRIP TO RENEW VISA. Review on Iran, General

I spend 3 months in UAE with my visit visa which will expire in next 5 days. After much thought and deliberation I decided to go to tiny island of Kish in Iran to reenter the country with a new visa, which is a common practice here .I heard a lot about Kish before travel most of them are sad and horrible stories, but as my Visa is due to expire in few days,I have no another option. The HR department booked my ticket on 31st January as my visa is expiring on I February but the next 3 days are public holiday. So I changed my ticket to 28th night. The airfare is 500 DHS which include return air ticket and one night free stay in Farabi Hotel in Kish. I went from home at 7 PM as the flight was at 10.45 PM. I Reached Dubai international airport at 9 PM .I reached Terminal 2 at 9.15 but the counter was still closed. I saw a group of people waiting there without confirmation and the display shows the flight at 11.30PM stands cancelled. The counter opened at around 9.45 and I gave my passport and ticket but they couldn’t find the name, at last they found out that the first letter of my name is missing in the booking. As the counter staff was a nice lady she gave me boarding pass with name NIL instead of ANIL. Then I went to the Dubai duty free shop and made a copy of passport with exit stamp and faxed to the office. They charge 1 Dhs for copy and fax. Then we waited and finally around 11.30PM we board the flight. IT was a 50 seater Fokker-50 turbo-prop planes. Half of the travelers are from India and half from Philippians and all gone to renew visa. There are no seat numbers in the seat, the seat number in my boarding pass was not even there in that aircraft. People took seats with first come first serve basis. I took the 4th row and the front row was occupied by two Iranian security guards. The flight took around 45 minutes to reach the Kish and on board they serve peanuts, 2 biscuits and a pineapple juice. As soon as we reached Iran one security guard pointed girls to one side where they need to go and cover their hair before entering the country. We waited for 5 minutes before the counter, the custom staff looked very rude but finally stamped the passport; outside the bus from Farabi hotel was waiting and we boarded the II bus. The driver stopped the bust and asked us to get down in front of a hotel named Alighapoo, the time was around 12.45 AM, he said Farabi is full and we need to stay in this hotel. They took 300 Dhs as deposit and took our passport. He wrote a slip saying room number 225 when I reached there people where sleeping on the floor, there where around 8 people in that room. I came back to the reception and he told me to go to room number 215. One Egyptian guy was already sleeping there, there where 2 rooms in one small apartment, one bathroom and a small kitchen. Two Philippians where inside the small room so two beds where vacant me and my colleague took that two bed and we switched on the TV , all the channels where in Iran. We tried to sleep and then woke up at 7 am, I went to reception and called office and gave the phone and fax number. They charged 5 dhs for 3 minute call but I called 3 times and paid only 3 dhs , later I found that there is a phone booth ., it charge only 1 dhs per minute and can call anywhere in the world . We waited for visa for one hour in the hotel but no result, so we thought of walking and exploring the city of Kish .It is a small and beautiful island, the climate was good. we visited few shopping malls and went for lunch in Maria restaurant. We had chicken biriyani, the taste was not so good but we don’t have another option. We came back to hotel in the afternoon and checked the fax; still no visa so went and slept in the room. At 6 I called back office and they told me still they are waiting for visa.So we went outside to the city. Few people told us about an Indian restaurant where they server tasty food. The hotel is far from city but they send a free bus to hotel and back. So we boarded the bus and had some fish fry, fish curry rice for just 6 dhs .The bus will pickup and drop off just in front of the Farabi hotel bus stop. Afternoon the bus will come at 12.30PM and evening at 7.30 PM. We had dinner and went to sleep .Next day morning I got a call from office saying my visa faxed to hotel at 8.30 am in the morning. I rushed to the reception and got my visa. Immediately I went to the Kish air office which is next to Farabhi hotel as some of the people told me they got ticket conformation only after 3 days. I passed the visa copy and ticket to the counter staff and they said my ticket confirmed at 5 PM same day. I came back to hotel and the visa for my colleague didn’t came yet , so we went to lunch in Khattam hotel and came back. I vacated the room as I need to pay full day charge if I vacate after 2 PM . At 3.30 I got a taxi to airport for 10 Dhs . The airport was full and one flight was scheduled to Dubai at 4 PM .I waited in the queue for sometime then they said the flight at 5PM rescheduled to 7PM .Finally at 7 PM they called and gave boarding pass and at after long wait at 8.30PM we boarded the flight. The flight was a Boeing flight with comfortable seats, so the travel time was only 20 mins and around 9.15 I reached Dubai international airport. Sad to say that my colleague spend 10 days in Kish before coming back to Dubai. Thank god that now Dubai government banned visa renewal trip so that we dont need to take trip to KISH.
