Iqbal

Nagesh Kukunoor, the director has always caught my imagination ever since I saw his Hyderabad blues. His movies are realistic and touch to ground.Relating to his movies comes naturally to his audience. I went to watch Iqbal carrying the same expectation. And boy, did he do justice to that...

Iqbal is a story of a poor country side 18 year old deaf and dumb boy, who faces all odds against him to make it to the Indian cricket team. Shreyas Talpade, who plays Iqbal, the protagonist has made his mark with a riveting performance. Naseeruddin Shah who has been a part of Kukunoor's movie for the straight second time impresses yet again playing the part of an alcoholic coach to Iqbal. But the actor who walks away with all the accolades is the wizkid Shweta Prasad of Makdi fame. She plays the ever supportive sister of Iqbal. Her screen presence, expressions and timed dialogue delivery would humble even seasoned actors.

The movie though being sensitive in its subject, offers a lot of humor. A safe bet for all cinegoers. Go watch the movie with family and kids and get assured of 2 & 1/2 hours of pure entertainment.
