For my birthday my husband bought me this Iomega Zip CD drive for my computer. I could not BE more excited! (been whining and complaining for one for quite a while) Ironically I am the proud and happy owner of a purple Imac and a purple HP Deskjet 832C. I have heard many people complain about the appearance of this CD burner, but for me it couldn't be a more lovely shade of purple. The software that comes with the burner is EXTREMELY easy to use -Toast. I am not sure about the PC software since I only deal with Mac when possible. It also includes a template to make your own CD labels. Along with the burner you get a couple of blank CD-R disks, and a couple of disks of drivers and software. Toast deals well with MP3's - I have been able to listen to the CD's I've created virtually everywhere.

My CD player in the house is (embarassingly) about 15 years old and they are usable there. The drive functions pretty well. Driver installation was a piece of cake. Burning has worked without a hitch, even though I’ve been operating at 4x (the top speed) without the ‘Test’ setting on. It’s not lightning fast, but has been completely reliable. It is possible to use this thing as a CD player, but I'm not sure why you'd want to do that.
