Open a school without education on your mind

This is a truly mean , nasty , irreverent write up.

you have to excuse me for writing this if it affects the sensibilities of some but then, I need to focus and do something about my anger at what is happening around us that I have to write this.

the first thing to do when you open this kind of a school is to be clear that the school is neither for children nor for education. the objective then ? to make money for the grown ups. and in the process all grown ups involved in the school must prepare to become shrunk downs.

you need a few acres of land . firstly because the affiliating boards have this stipulation. also because you need to grow rice on the leftover land. how else would you feed the never satiated mouths and stomachs of the education departments and the affiliating agencies ? mind you, the idealists are always there at the top with their visions and missions, but the middle men are growing their greed. ghar mein biwi hai, bhokay bachchay hai and all that.and of course, you cant make money if you do it all right. for heavens sake, if you did it all right you'd become an educationist. perish that thought, you want to be a businessman.and make money. so the rice is an investment.

the advise here is to add a couple of lakhs to your budget for the affiliating guys or else they can come up with an objection like, no you cannot have a sloping roof to your school specially because it is in assam and all the rain water needs instant drainage.

now make your building. here I give you full freedom to choose your design and do whatever you want according to your budgets. please remember, the per child space is to be adhered to, in paper. and ofcourse, the louder the building, the further away you shall be heard.

now become a corporate. whatever that means.the latest lingo is , '' we run our school like the corporate sector ''. will the business guys tell me , poor teacher, what that means ? I had a brush with the corporate types in education once. they had acres of land and millions to boot. so they built a school and a corporate house to run it.they kept husky voiced voluptuous young girls as executives with unknown execution duties. one of these girls, a friend of mine tells me that admission enquiries doubled after they were advised by their consultants to speak to the fathers in a SEXY voice.and if the mothers rang ?well, recruit a few male executives too.

so you have the land, a building, and now you have admission enquiries too.

lets talk about fees structure. if your infrastructure is impressive you can ask for anything, so the advise is to do your building well.

and get your teachers. promise them everything that should be given but remember, you must not deliver. for you need them to get mad , frustrated and they must leave you at the end of the term.this way you do not get into the problem of having to confirm them and thereby less money gets spent on the perks that go with a permanent job.after all, a penny saved, is one earned.

the national money making schools association must have smelt me out and they are having me thrown out of mouthshut.

ouch.... terrible kick that one. have to postpone all smartassiness for part 2.

no offence friends. for every hoax in education, we have a million zealots all doing their thing quietly. may their tribe ever flourish.

and let us burn down the wax houses.
