Lo aa gayi! sabko lubhane khichdi!! khichdi is an innocent comedy... The situation is a joint gujarati family... Supriya Pathak a.k.a. Hansa Parekh is at her best in this serial... All the characters have played their best roles in this serial...
Babuji is the head of this family who starts his day shouting ''Jayshree chai bana rahi ho ya bahar se mangwa loon??''. His elder son Prafull is as dumb as a donkey for him...and his takiyakalam is ''Prafull tu to gadha hai gadha''!!
Prafull is babuji's elder son...and has amazing logic... once when asked to bring newspaper..he gets a tamil newspaper...so babuji gets mad at him as he doesnt know tamil... Prafull, being an extremely smart son says that he has also got 'learn tamil in 30 days book'!!
Prafull's wife Hansa is extremely lazy and loves to get dressed all the time... she is particularly fond of 'gajras' (jasmine flowers)... She has a typical Kathiyawadi accent... For the infants, kathiyawadi is dialect of Saurastra region of Gujarat... She wants to learn English, and makes literal translation from Hindi to English... For her ''Yeh kya?'' is ''what is?''!!
Jayshree is widow of babuji's younger son..but she is not shown as a sad person... which is good...because in most of the serials today, widows are always 'laachaar'... She is smarter than Hansa, and loves to gossip!
Chakki...she happens to be daughter of hansa and prafull...and jackie happens to be jayshree's son... 'little children wiser than men' holds true for them!! they are smarter than their elders!!
raju and melissa...raju is youngest son of babuji and has married a christian mellisa... babuji, for anything which goes wrong, blames it on melissa saying, 'maine to pehle hi kaha tha, yeh ladki raju ke liye theek nahin'... but he doesnt really mean it... it just adds to the humour...
After an era of saas bahu serials, khichdi happens to be very very refreshing... a must see for those who love comedy and those who dont love comedy!!
