Innovative film City
We nearly cancelled our trip after going through the reviews. Then my wife told me that she heard positive feedback from one of our neighbors. So we thought we will take a chance.
Myself, wife, brother and wife, and sister, and 5 kids(age range 2 – 7 years) visited the place.
Ticket Price
I went on Dec 29 2010(vacation time for kids). I was told there is no option of 50 rupee ticket, instead there were ticket options for 399 rupees and 799rupees. We took the Rs399 option which included free access to the following. Just to make it clear, for the below activities there was no extra charge. Also Entry is free for kids below 3years.

Overall design and theme of the park*
The entrance area is superb. Throughout the park the same quality is maintained. Entrance area has very good sculptures. Good to take photographs. Overall cleanliness and quality is comparable to any good resort(example Eagleton, Club Cabbana). I reached at 1 PM and had to leave at 6 PM as the park shut down at 6:00 PM. So I could not explore many activities other than the free ones . Also could not visit the entire area.

Dino Park*
The landscape is really good with motorized Dino models. Fun for kids to take some snaps. Also smaller kids enjoy the same…

You enter a room full of glasses, due to reflections you won’t be able to find the path out easily. This was amazing, I am glad I followed a group and could get out. This is a place I would like to go again

I found this interesting. I think I have seen better ones abroad.

Wax Museum*
Very few of the wax models has resemblance to the original person. Still good for kids to take few snaps

Aqua Kingdom*
If you have visited club cabbana, this is pretty much similar to the tide park. Difference is that they have created a simulated beach with sand. I think they can create artificial tides. We were there only for ½ hour, they did not turn on the motors. On the positive side the setting for the beach is real good with excellent chairs, recliners etc. Negative side, they allow people to get in without proper swimsuit.

Haunted House*
We had to walk up /down couple of floors and I was glad kids came out without any injuries(as there is less lighting, I was worried they hit something accidently and fall down). Other than my infant daughter no one else felt this scary at all

Fossil hunt*
I was a bit lazy to do this. I saw rest of my family enjoying this. One has to find some hidden fossils from the sand pit. Kids like it cause they get to play with the sand.

Wanna Do City*
There is a mock police station, hospital, Television Studio, Radio Studio, mock up Aero plane etc. Kids wore the police caps and took some pictures. Television Studio was really amazing. We did mock up of tv news, chat show etc which all of us could watch on the TV. Overall Wanna Do Citry is enjoyable only if you put some effort. In our case we were for game so we spend more than 1 hour there an enjoyed a lot.

4D Film*
This is the only activity we did by paying extra ticket cost(100 Rupee each). The film is approx 15 minutes, the experience is really good. I strongly recommend watching the film. 4th dimension effect is created by movement of chairs/spraying of water(pretty average)

Overall*
Film City provides a unique experience and this is a good place to take out kids. The overall set up, buildings etc are top notch. However the experience inside many of the activities are pretty average. For a family with kids( less than 12 year old) this is definitely a must visit place for one time. I may not visit the place again in next 1 year or so. However I think this is a good place to take guests coming from home town. Also the ticket does not provide flexible option to pick and choose activity.

Value for Money?*
One of the strong criticism from the reviewers is that Film city is overpriced. Yes 400 rupee is quite a substantial sum especially for a family of four.
Let us look from another angle. Last time I visited club cabbana with my family it was~700 rupee per person. In fact most of the sports facility at Club Cabbana was mediocre, I have better shuttle court and tennis court at my apartment complex. Net, you go to these places to take a break from your routine. So if you compare spending 1 day in a resort v/s Film City, I don’t think they are overpriced. Again this is subjective.
Should you visit the place*
I think many of the reviewers have compared this place to ones in Singapore/Disney land etc . Definitely the ones abroad are better. The point is many of us visit Nandi hills even though Ooty or Munnar is far superior. Film City is pretty much like that.
I recommend this is a must visit place(one time) for a Bangalore family with small kids.
