I had bought a Prestige Induction Cook-top for my home use in July 10, from one of the BigBazaarstores in Thiruvanathapuram. Though we were thinking of buying one, the decision to buy a Prestige brand cook-top was taken abruptly due to(a) a package of 3 pieces of Prestige induction cook topcompatiblecooking vessels were offered free with it(b) Prestige is a House hold name for decades. Since the offer was good, we did go for it.
The cook-top developed an internal electrical problem in the first week of Aug. when we had used it for only half a dozen times. Since there was no local service centre address or telephone number available in the users manual, I had to call their Cochin office to get help. On their advice, I talked to a local Sales Officer of Prestige and he offered me to service it quickly provided I hand over it to the store from where I had bought it.
Since there was no response for a week, I had to call the store repeatedly only to hear that the item had been sent to Cochin for service. Eventually I had to meet the store Manager forredressalas there was no response from Prestige who are legally bound to service it at the earliest. The store Manager who is such a decent gentleman assured me that the item will be returned at the earliest and they are also in touch with Prestige representatives. There was no stock available with them lest he should have replaced it with a new one. He kept his assurance and maintained thedignityof Big Bazaar by replacing it with a new one within three days.
We have found this cooking mode as very convenient as you can increase or decrease the wattage required so that the required heat is maintained throughout the cooking. Still you need to keep a gas cylinder as standby as you will be trouble if there is a power supply failure. Cleaning is easy, as it has a glass top. Vessels that arecompatibleonly can be used for cooking. Overall the working of the cook top is very good and I recommend induction cook tops especially Prestige in spite of my service problems.
I feel induction cook-tops are very useful for bachelors who cook themselves.
