Mates welcome to dawdling city of INDOREalso known as Mini Bombay (Mumbai), the City got its name from Indreshwar Temple built in 1741 built on the banks of the River Khan <<Its no longer a river though but more of a NAALA (Sewage Carrying Stream) >> near which Indore is located. For those of you who don’t know, well Indore is in the state of Madhya Pradesh in Central India.

3)Indore is be sided by Pithampur & Sanver Industrial Area that consist of major Industries like Kinetic Engineering, Novino, Eicher Motors, Bridgestone & many others adding to Industrial Sheen of Indore.
4)Indore is a telecommunication hub of Central India.
5)Major educational center as far as Central India is concerned.
6)Indore is a major territory for Bollywood Films with major Distribution offices located here
These were starters. Indore is quite city by the looks of it & I love it being that way. It won’t give you a 10/10 feel of a Metropolitan city, in fact that way it wont even stand in comparison to so called metros. Lets see how one goes about in Indore.
Where to stay?
Traveler:: Indore has all kinds of Hotels, Motels & Lodges according to ones budget so it will be kind of peanuts to find one for your Budget & Feel, any ways I have some slabs on offer, If you can PAY
Rs.1500-Above :: Go for Hotel 1) Sayaji, 2) Fortune Landmark & 3) President Planet.
Rs.800-1500:: 1)Shrimaya, 2)President, Crown Palace plus lots of good Hotels.
Rs.500-1000:: 1) Balwaas Intl., 2)Princess Palace In & Lots of good hotels.

Student:: Indore has slowly turned itself into a Educational Hub as far as Central India is concerned, so with this there has been advent of many Hostels plus you can rent a room for that matter with not much of payment averaging from Rs.1000-1500 for a Hostel & Rs.2000-2500 for a 1 BHK Flat as monthly rental.
PS:: ½ of your job gets done by the Taxi walas who will take you to the Hotel of your budget as soon as you step in. <<They have there commission fixed for every Single or Double bed room you rent.>>
How to commute?
Perhaps the best thing about Indore is its Short Distances; yeah the City is not that big as other cities so it is not that much of a problem & also to the fact that much of its commercial & daily activities are focused in some major areas. Well as far as mode of transport:
Taxi or Auto rickshawyou may call it, it is worth lending your a** to. Make sure the driver downs that meter which starts with Rs.6.00 thereby incrementing after 1 km in denomination of 40 paise.
TEMPO Don’t miss on this, it is funny & most bizarre mode of transport. 3 wheeler & makes a very funny sound, BTW its gear handle looks a like a handle of a Safe Vault & it Limps around with Top Speed of 35 kmph. Good thing is that it is cheap with max. rent going upto Rs.5 only. Bad thing is that you will have sit glued with co passengers one it is on capacity & there is a danger of getting your head banged whenever there is a bump on the road.
Mini Bus also known as Nagar Seva, it costs you around Rs.10 /- but watch out for there Drivers who try to fulfill there failed ambitions of being Michael Schumacher by piloting on these poor mini buses on mercy of there passengers.
Hot Spots
1)Well water parks are everywhere, so in Indore as well. Do splash in Mayank Blue Waters, 9th Mile & Water World
2)Restaurants:: Major ones you should not miss is Shrimaya, Sayaji, Fortune Landmark & Choudhary ka Dhaaba.
3)Discotheques:: Well you wont we disappointed with whatever Indore has to offer namely Volcano, Critical Mass (Part of Sayaji Hotels) & Kins will have you Rocking with Good Music.
4)Watch out Kaanch Mandir, Bada Ganpati (A huge Statue of Lord Ganesha) & Rajawada (Heart of Indore) & Lal Bagh Palace.
5)Shop..Shop:: Well we too have M.G.Road & Race Course Road which are famous for cool Malls & Shopping Centers like Globus etc. You can find any product here in to shop with all major brands from Van Huesen, Raymonds, Nike, Reebok, Adidas present with there own showrooms.
6)Indore has a lone Multiplex “Velocity” so don’t miss it. It has around 25 theatres for movie buffs catering to your U as well as X Rated Needs.
7)Watch out for Novelty Market & Singapore Mkt., simple they present you with a large Grey Market with everything in Electronics to household items on offer.
Education:: Indore is graced by the presence of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) whose new campus is a GEM, plus Devi Ahilya University has loads of meaty courses on offer though it will still not measure up with likes of Mah. Or Karnataka for that matter, Professional Education centers is well present in Indore like Aptech, SSI, Tata Infotech & NIIT. Coaching centers for various competitive exams are in plenty. Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Holkar Science College are among the best in MP and adjoining regions.
Work Culture:: Simple as 10-6 but slowly it is pacing up with 10 hrs. of work time & also being more & more professional. Its ok if you are working in some big corporate co.’s branch so it wont affect your even pay packet but if you are a working with some local company don’t expect anything more then 12ks as maximum salary., which is actually enough considering the living expenses aren’t that much. Indore has all strata of big Indian Corporate so it isn’t much of a problem. Only thing is that you don’t normally end up on a senior position coz many of Top Level selections come from Metros.
Extraa Indore:: Watch out for Sudama Nagar Asia's Largest Colony
Population:: 28 Lks & Mostly inhabited by Hindi Speaking people.

1)If you are staying for long try making a deal with Police Stations for second hand vehicles, my dad ended with a Gypsy (2001) for just 15000/-. Amazed!!!
2)Don’t visit theatres like Prafulla and Satyam for plenty of X reasons
3)Visit Sikh Mohalla & Sarafa for yummy Indian Delicacies like Aloo Chaat etc. I bet you will forget Choupati (Mumbai) & 56 Shops popularly known as Chappan Dukan**Just can't be missed.
* dont miss GARADU.. It is awesome.
4)Don’t miss 4 am Fresh Tea at Busstand & POHAS.
5)Just eat once at places like Indori Dhaaba & Imraan hotel..Fantastic Non-Veg.

7) Also try out Namkeens of Indore like Senv, Daal Moth etc.. They are World Famous

On the whole it is the Best City in MP hands down..Even not Paralleled by Bhopal (Capital of MP).
