Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Director: Steven Spielberg
Cast: Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett, Shia LeBouf, Karen Allen, Ray Winstone, John Hurt.
19 years after the Last Crusade, Indiana Jones returns in another spine tingling, heart racing, breath holding package that is The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Plot: The story is in 1957. The Russians, want a Crystal skull that Jones researched on, since it holds the power to control minds. Jones and ‘Mutt’ a young guy whose mother has been kidnapped decide to go find the skull, in El Dorado, avoiding the Russians. The Usual Indiana Jones adventure follows.
Acting: Perfect is the only word for it. Every character plays his or her role to perfection, from the aged but still strong Ford, to the stone faced and evil Blanchett. Shia LeBouf is a wonderful surprise, stealing a lot of the show with his brilliant antics. Karen Allen arrives late but is amazing for the remaining part. Ray Winstone and John Hurt are right up there with the rest. The entire cast has done their job amazingly well.
Direction: Two words for you. Steven Spielberg. From the first scene to the titles, you won’t get time to blink. You’ll probably blink more times reading this review than watching the film. The camerawork, the stunts(mind boggling), the special effects(mind boggling^2), the sets, the settings and technologies, all remind you each second who’s film you’re watching. It’s Spielberg at his best, and it’s amazing.
Music: Right from the opening scene with Elvis’s Hound dog playing in the background, the music takes you on a journey all of their own. The music varies to set the mood, from the action, to the dramatic to the downright funny.
Dialogues: A special mention, this film has a LOT of funny dialogues. Apart from that, the dialogues are well times and placed even better. Not one word is spoken without reason.
Overall: A wonderful film, worth every cent and a must watch this summer. Has some unrealistic parts, but its all part of the Jones factor. Highly recommended.
