I look at the indian railways as quite literally the back one of India. The privileged are able to zoom across the country by air, but the masses do use the railways. Bureaucracy aside (I have no idea what goes on there) the service works. Yes it is late. Yes the toilets are unusable. Yes ''reserving'' a seat is a joke, But in the end, it WORKS !!! I have been using the suburban trains in Bombay, and inspite of the splitting at the edges the services continue to carry over 5 million people from the north to the south of Bombay every single day.
If we want to have a discussion on the railways, GREAT, I would love to be a part of it, but lets not make it hypothetical. It serves no purpose. Lets talk about it from the point of view, of what we can do and not what the Govt. machinery can do. (They do not read these boards anyway). My 2 cents...
