Hello! This is the review for Indian Overseas Bank branch at Mayur Vihar.
Vacations International, had issued a Kotak Mahindra cheque No. 002394, dated 05-12-2013, for the amount of Rs.33000/- in the name of “Jaypee Siddharth”. Instead of “Jaypee Siddharth” the name on this cheque should have been “ Jaypee Hotels”.
Our office assistant visited the branch on 10-12-2013, thrice and met a rude lady telling him to get an undertaking from Jaypee Siddharth seeking name correction. He was told that the funds have been taken from our account! I visited the branch manager with the executive at 5:20 pm in the evening and the manager told me that Jaypee Siddharth does not need to issue an undertaking, Vacations International will need to do it.
He told me that the funds are parked in an Indian Oversea's own account. Except manager and a bank executive noone was there. Satisfied with the response, I came back, feeling better that atleast someone has an answer. 11-12-2013, I went to the Indian Overseas Bank Branch at Mayur Vihar carrying with me the undertaking letter on our letterhead with owners signatures. The lady was rude and told me that Vacations International's undertaking is not required.
Facing such poor customer service, I went with my papers to the Bank Manager, with whom I had spoken last evening. The bank manager went back on his words after consulting with the lady and told me that I was mistaken and he had asked me to get an undertaking letter form Jaypee Siddharth. Last evening he said the opposite! Seems like he himself does not know the process. The bank manager took the lady's side ignoring her rudeness and poor customer service. Though he kept harping on " we are for here for customer service", it was totally the opposite.
Left with no option and after 2 days wasted and 5 visits, I have asked Jaypee Siddharth to issue an undertaking at the Main Indian Overseas Branch.
Update: 12-12-2013, Mr.Gaurav from Jaypee Siddharth accounts arrived all the way from Pusa Road to Mayur Vihar carrying with him a letter of undertaking and request to get the funds transferred.
The lady refused to help( as expected) and the manager informed Mr.Gaurav that the amount has been transferred to Jaypee Hotels last evening itself.( After this review was posted)
He was told that the Mayur Vihar branch called Janpath branch to validate the account and got the number of Jaypee Head of Accounts. After talking to him and getting an approval the amount was transferred.
We were surprised to hear it. Indian Overseas Bank Mayur Vihar was sitting on the issue for 2 days making a mess, refusing to accept our undertaking and bothering its own client Jaypee Hotels for the same.
In this age of emails, net banking and phone banking, here is a bank that refuses to work till the client is forced to walk in with an undertaking! The whole thing could have been resolved had the manager taken an initiative, but as his staff, he became a part of the problem.
It was a sheer waste of my time and client's time. I am glad that I don't have to deal with them anymore.
