The dream institute of every child who is willing to join indian Army!. IMA is the indian military academy which is an officers training institute located in Dehradun in the state of uttarakhand. The institute was built in 1930. It has very wide campus of about 1400 acres. Himalayan regions are visible from the campus. The institute is 8kms away from dehradun in the west.
The first batch commissioning 31 indian officers commissioned K.M Cariappa who was the second field marshal of india and commander in chief. To get into this academy is very tough!
Every year upsc conducts two times Combined defence service(CDS) entrance exam which is CDS1 and CDS2 for the admission in IMA. To be eligible in the entrance the candidate must possess the following eligibility criterion, the candidate must be unmarried and indian national, the age of the candidate must lie between 19 to 24 years, the candidate must obtain the graduation degree from any recognised university. After cracking this exam one has to give personal interviews followed by physical fitness and medical test. The selection process is very hard, every candidate must be calm and stable during selection.
