Chill out Guys!

Indian Idol is just another gimmick played by a channel for increasing its TRP ratings and minting money. The Rs 1 Crore contract and a honda city car as offered to the winner is just peanuts as compared to what the channel must have gained otherwise. Let us suppose the channel spent another Rs 2 crores in bringing up and running the show. Now see what the channel has gained..

  1. The two anchors always keep on campaigning about 'Nokia mein hindi mein sms' stuff, for which nokia must have paid Lakhs or even Crores of Rupees.

  2. They also sing songs about participants cloths sponsered by 'Globus' and 'Roopam, which itself says the story.

  3. Major tie up is with cellular operators such as airtel, hutch.. etc for which, I

know officially, 90 paisa per sms goes to the channel when used for voting. If counted from the begening, the amount must have crossed several crores, including the last episode where they recieved 3.5 crore votes.

  1. Imagine the amount channel must be charging for showing ads in middle of the show. More so, since it became the best TV show of the times. Another Rs 20-30 crore profit !!

If we get out of this stuff now, lets what the winner of 'Indian idol' has gained...

  1. Rs 1 Crore

  2. Honda City

  3. Overnight popularity, which even sharukh Khan must have taken 5 years to gain.

  4. Career as a singer.

But I personally doubt about the popularity of the winner once the show has come to an end. Do remember how the names of 'Viva' and 'Aasma' are lost in desert.... I think these groups were formed in exactly the same manner on channel 'V'.

Lastly, all I can say is that Indian Idol, however it was , it did keep all of us sitting

like a moron watching our TVs for almost 4-5 months...and created excitement .. to some extent......Yawn..!!
