Now that Indian Idol is over. I would like to comment on it their selection process.
First of all television is a visual medium so participants must also have a stage presence and a personality to go with it.
Not one of the participants had these qualities, they may have great voices but they could not carry themselves despite all the makeovers etc. If you have watched American Idol auditions you would see that the finalists have talent and that extra style to appeal to the viewer.
Maybe in India we won't find a bunch of good singers with attitude but I hope like the Miss Indias over the years they will have perfected the art of making these gauche young men and women into presentable individuals before they present them to the audience in the final rounds.
As for the judges, Farh definitely has to go they need one more person from music industry not necessarily for hindi film industry to do the judging and the singers could me made to sing a better repertoire of songs.
Ofcourse I did not watch the whole stuff so can't really comment on it. How could they even think of putting up people like the painter in final rounds. For all their hype they got a mediocre bunch of singers in the contest I think Zee TV manages to get in better folks for their programmes.
ALL in all Sony would have learnt a few lessons and we can expect a slicker programme next time round
