Sit Back and Relax,Just Chill...This is my experience of watching Indian Idol controversial episode LIVE shooting where huge volumes of youth protested ferociously and violently for Ameye D (a good contestent being voted out which was not expected).
Never thought that I'll encounter such fabulous experience in my life.First things First , Loadz and Loadz of Thanks to Sawant(Not Abhijeet Sawant but Our classmate...my friend) for getting me a Pass to see Indion Idol shooting on 14th March in Lower Parel.
Got a call at 11 pm night on 13th March from Sawant regarding Indian Idol PASS to watch it LIVE shooting on 14th march
Couldn't resist it...I had to say YES.But there were some Terms and Conditions. First , I'll have to get up at 6 am morning to get 7:30 am train from Chembur for Kurla . Very Very Very Difficult but still had to get up.Reached there at 7:45 am(Kya Karta yaar...Aadat se Majboor Hoon).Sawant,Anil (Jammu) and two other IB classmates were waiting for me and we got into train for Kurla .After getting down at Kurla ,we got into Dadar fast train which was as usual overly crowded.
After we got down at Dadar , had to run like bulls and pigs for the Churchgate train(slow) to get down at Lower parel.
After getting down at Lower Parel we heaved a sigh of relief as we had to be at the location(Kamla Mill compound) by 8:30 am.It was already 8:25 am , so we took a taxi to the location.
Phew..Phew..we were there at 8:30 am sharp.
I must say again Sawant has really good rapport with the media people of Indion Idol.People over there call him 'KUMAR'.After we reached there , we registered our names and then.....we were told to sit in VIP room.No seriously ,I'm not joking we were told to sit in VIP room...because Sawant already has good relationship with the media people...and I must tell you media people are very friendly with him.Hats off to Sawant(my best friend) for his creativity and interactive skills.
Well ! We had to wait for almost 4 hours to see LIVE experience....and we were starving because there was no canteen in the surrounding.Just had to depend on Teas and coffees.Imagine just sittin at one place for 4 hours patiently is so boring..Isn't it?.
We started cursing Sawant for bringing us to watch the shooting.It was 12:30 pm and then we were told to move into the studio .
We sat in the audience section where camera is focussed all the time(Again thanks to Sawant).The audience section was full packed with family members of contestents,college students and production people.The studio environment is very cool in terms of AC and Sound system.
Of course the production people are so hardworking and diligent that you just can't believe your eyes.
Nearly after 20 minutes.... the shooting started.(Thank GOD!!) Here comes our three judges one by one -->Anu , Farha and Sonu. Then Mini Mathur and Aman Verma.Then Rakshanda Khan.All of them looking good.
Then came the contestents-->Ameye(talented singer),Anuj(average singer),Sandeep(Smiley face and good singer) and Karunya(everybody's favourite).You know the anchor people i.e., Mini and Aman actually speak their dialougues by looking at a computer next to the camera.Also , I must tell that the audience who you see clapping for contestents on TV actually have to clap forcibly.Because there were two APPLAUSE boards flickered in red lights behind the camera.Whenever they went ON ,we would clap,and when they were turned off ,we were suppose to stop clapping.It was so funny.
The episode shooting was actually an elimination round . We(Myself,Anil and Sawant) thought that it will take another 1 hour for shooting and then we will leave.We didn't had any expectations.Everybody knew who's going to be eliminated ...It has to be Anuj because in the previous episode he didn't sing well.We expected that Anuj would be eliminated.
So the shooting was done in frame by frame shot.Mini announcing Anuj being in the bottom two people out of four voted was very obvious bcoz we knew who's going to be eliminated(It's Anuj YAAR!!!).
But then to our surprise ,Sandeep and Karunya were safe ...and actually .....hang on friends...hold your breath.....Ameye was in the bottom two.The audience of around 120 people watching the shooting in the studio assumed and predicted that it's ANUJ.But then....when the result was declared that Ameye D is voted out and not Anuj........there was a big havoc in the studio.Judges walked out stating that they want a RE -MATCH and they don't support this format.
Now starts the actual fun!!!! The audience started shouting ''Ameye Ameye''.All were so angry that in the middle of the shooting ,some part of Ameye supporters started arguing with the production people.They walked out of the studio inspite of tight security.Many people took it so personally that they....believe it or not ....started crying.
Sawant,Myself and Anil just could not belive what was happening.
Phew.....then after some time the atmosphere was back to normal in the studio .All in the audience were very confused about what was happening.Then Ameye remarkbaly and sportingly accepted based on what was the outcome.He said that this is the basic format that nobody can undo the past.
After the shooting was amicably completed by 3 pm....(Yes you heard it right)...we were provided meal .After seven hours of starvation it was a relief.But still ,We thought that coming today to watch LIVE and being starved was worth the experience what we just saw.
Hold on friends....This is not where the experience ends.After we had our lunch...all of a sudden we heard people shouting and yelling AMEYE in unision.We came outside in the studio compound to see what's the fuss all about?? To our shock, we saw dozens of cops at the gate arguing with the supporters of Ameye to stop blocking the gate.The supporters were not ready to open the gate untill there is an announcement of RE-MATCH.
Phew...O GOD what is this??Now even Media people from Aaj Tak,NDTV,ANI,JANMAT etc slowly by slowly were entering the compound just to do reporting.The crowd multiplied exponentially and there was big big havoc.The media people started interviewing the youth people in the compound.Me and Sawant stayed away from camera encounters.
After this ,Anu Malik and Sonu were not allowed to leave the place by the supporters unless they do Re-Match.Some people started giving non veg words rather bad words to Sony Channel and demanded to BAN Indion Idol.It was looking as if there would be LATHI charge by cops but it was not so......and O My god!! Kya Ho raha hai..yeh sab .Then Ameye came out of the building and requested to please stop all this nonsense and accept the result and respect the Indion Idol format.Kuddos to him for normalising the situation....but then the supporters over there were not happy.After 2 hours of long wait , the supporters dis-blocked the gate and allowed the celebrities to leave the place.
Phew....What a day of encountering such a unique experience.
An unforgettable experience...I must say.For those(Amrita,Sachin Amritwar--->my good friends) who missed out this experience , Better Luck next time.
I was lucky to see this controversy LIVE and was lucky to be also on TV.Thankz to SAWANT(my best friend).
