Indian Hockey: Bring Back the Lost Glory. Review on Indian Hockey Team

When whole of India is pondering over Indian Cricket Team World Cup debacle, I really feel sorry for other sports such as Hockey , Shooting , Archery , Athletics, Table Tennis , Lawn Tennis , Chess , Snooker-Billiards , Football which are in neglected state..

Since I have chosen hockey for this review of mine so I will focus on our 'National Game' in this review.

Players such as Dhyan Chand, Dhanraj Pillay , Gagan Ajit Singh , Deepak Thakur , Arjun Halappa , Jugraj Singhcapable of mesmerising any opposition comes to the mind.

But today Indian Hockey is in deserted state  suffering from severe groupism within the Hockey Association, lack of funds and very very poor domestic circuit ( inspite of tournaments like PHL).

I really feel that if games such as Hockey is promoted and followed as much as Cricket, India can really live up to the past glory.We have loads of talent throughout the country and if nurtured at early stage , it can really be beneficial to Indian Hockey.

There's need to strengthen our domestic structure in Hockey and certainly settiing up of more academies will help.It is very significant to recognize the talent at the earliest and provide them best possible facilities to train.

There needs complete overhauling of Indian Hockey Association and narrow interests of administrators need to be dealt with strictness.They have already damaged Indian Hockey to large extent.

More domestic tournaments need to be organizedat district , zonal , national level  which will keep our players on toes through out the year and will prepare an effective bench strength so that rotation policy can be followed.

Most significantly, India should play more and more international tournaments to get used to different conditions so that they can produce effective results both in India and outside.

Players should also be allowed to play in foreign hockey leagues which definitely helps a player to raise his standard of game and work on his shortcomings.

Coach should be appointed who can really rejuvinate the Indian Team and make it 'Team India' rather then a group of individuals who look strong on paper only and not on field.

Sponsors should come forwardand sponsor team so that more money can flow into the game, especially those who spend crores of rupees on ads on Indian Cricket Players.

And at last, as Indians we should encourage other games apart from cricket so that India can be a force to reckon with in all the sports ( not just cricket).

I am looking forward to lots of comments which can really be benefical to Indian Hockey.

Com on its time to cheer our heroes in other sports and give them the motivation and encouragement and not stick to 'Cricket' only as sport we follow.

Its time for India to reign supreme in other sports who bring the nation glory in Commonwealth Games , National Games and World Championships and strive for more medals at Olympics.
