Are we finally witnessing the rise of the TITANS??
Sep 23, 2007 02:39 PM 3846 Views

These "numbers" quite uncanilly have become the most famous "words" as per the day. Indian team's applaud worthy performance in this latest cricketing innovation, the WORLD 20-20 blowed to oblivion any uncertainity someone may have brooded over its damped performance days.

Quite honestly, as per me, and also by many more, "cricket" is not about just playing anymore. Its about a state of mind. Of cource, winning does matter. And all those who say it doesnt probably lost. But winning is not the ONLY purpose. Playing is. And playing it brave and undiminished is. A win by a single run also statastically qualifies as a win, but at the same time winning by a score, obliterated, exponentially increases the applause, which does not always imply striking the hands together to produce cadences in unison. The applause is partially mental too. Its visible in the spirit, the atmosphere and in the vibe.

Talking of attitude in the World 20-20, when Yuvraj had a "word" (and a glare to go with it too) with Flintoff, there was an omnipresent tempest waiting to break lose all hell on England which soon followed with the chandigarh lad making history and hitting 6 6s off the 6 balls by Broad. The incident reminded me quite instinctively of the way Sreesanth had hit Nel's delivery over the ropes after a failed attempt by the collosus of a bowler at trying to subdue not the batsman, but his spirit. The same Sreesanth again became famous in this tournament for staring in a way that would have made Darth-Vader wet his armored bionic suite. The young players demonstrated a never before seen confidence and courage. Its as if young India, on the globe-front, is thwarting EVERY attempt at being intimidated. Its this quality that was missing in our past performances which lead to losses and provoked inevitable backlashes by the people.

What followed were a pantheon of "episodal-remedies" which, as expected, failed in the longer run. But now, the spirit has been rejuvinated. Decisions are getting unbiased and bolder, the attitude in no more a "problem" but a trait feared by the ones daring to challenge the mirth of Indian cricket. The seemingly underdogs of the tournament (Pakistan is again no exception and has performed brilliantly) India and its neighbour made it to the finals. The match will decide the immediate future of Indian and Pakistan cricket, but what it won't effect is the soul both teams in general and India in particular, has mutated from the meek to the mammoth, from the timid to the thwarting. It seems as if the TITANS and Pioneers of Indian cricket, a squad of young fearless achievers, 16 warriors is rising. Matches may be lost or won, both being equally important, but what is sure as of now is that, put in the TOI style, India is poised. If you want a piece of it, come and get it....

Again, these were MY thoughts I decided to share. If it makes you think and consider, I would like for you to PLEASE leave your comments and/or ratings......

Thank you....
