India is the seventh largest country in the world and ''boasts'' of a population of over a billion.people of different religion have made india their home.but every one shares the same passion for this game and believe me hockey may be the national game but cricket is the people's game.on the eve of a pakistan-india encounter you find all the streets empty,all shops closed and the people glued to their television sets.such is the fan following for the game in india but the indian cricket team has had its trouble in recent times..
well the indian team can be excused for the inconsistent if they had a side as bad as kenya or bangladseh,but having players of the calibre of sachin,saurav,laxman,dravid it puts up a very poor show in every match.they even lose to a weak zimbabwean side.this is a shame on the indian cricket.some of the aspects that that the indian team has to look into are
LACK OF AN ALLROUNDER
indian selectors have to be cricticised for not been able to find a quality allrounder..the south africans have klusener and the australians have like gilchrist who hits a century every match(what more can you ask for?)..i find it strange that in one of the most populated countries in the world the selectors find it tough to find a quality allrounder..
SACHIN/SAURAV FACTOR
it has become predictable that if sachin or saurav do not click then an indian defeat is in the offing.i feel sad when I hear this but I must admit this is the truth.we boast of having players like dravid and others but i'am true when I say that they are not genuine match winners.why does this happen?this is a team game and the game's outcome is decided by the performance of the entire team and not by an indivigual.a point indian team has to definitely sort out.
FITNESS LEVEL
the other main problem that haunts the indian cricket is fitness level. the indian cricket team in short is a bunch of sick guys..if a guy plays a great innings he is out of the next match due to cramps..and if a bowler bowls his heart out in one match the next match he his unavailable due to a shoulder injury..the last thing indian cricket needs at this level of the game is fitness problems.
LACK OF MENTAL TOUGHNESS
it has seen that since india started playing the game they have managed to snatch defeat from the verge of an easy victory..well the proof for this is that the indians have entered the finals nine times and failed to win even once.well this is very pathetic.cricket is a mind game and you have to acquire mental strength to play at the highest level.the only way that the indians acan over come it is by being cool at any situation whether it be chasing a huge total or while defending a small total..come guys grow up and rise to occasion.prove your critics wrong..you have a lot of job to do.
