It is unfortunate that we have to appoint Shastri as the Manager for taking the team to Bangladesh. The root cause of this problem is MUMBAI Click. If the team has to get anywhere they should get rid of Mumbai junk from the Indian Cricket. The team will not be a cohesive unit till there are so many Mumbaikars in it. Whatever anyone says the team will always be divided till the Mumbai players are there. They talk in their language and keep the others from the discussion and we are talking discussions about the game. It is a shame that they have control of cricket in India. BCCI head office should be shifted from Mumbai to minimise the impact of Mumbai in the game. If an improvement has to be brought send BCCI to Bangalore.
Let us start with Gavaskar (Changes his story everyday), Vengsarkar (he said before the world cup that Shehwag is in the team because Rahul insisted - who is the Chairman?), Tendulkar (he has become perfect actor and can show any emotions on the screen- he is perfect in giving excuses), Agarkar (not good enough even to be part of Gully cricket - who appoints him in the team), Sharad Powar (full time politician - what is he doing in cricket), Ravi Shastri (can speak but lacks content).
I am sure I must have missed some more from this axis of destruction for the cricket in India. Who is Sanjay Jagdale? He never played for India and he got there only due to his father MM Jagdale. When you have such mediocrity taking control of cricket in India how do you expect great results? Kiron More was Chairman of selectors - what is his qualification to be there? Yes they all speak the LANGUAGE. It is a shame that we have let things slip this far.
It is ironic that Rahul has been retained. He seems lost and is not fit to lead. There is no doubt about his caliber and class but he is not a leader. He has been retained because it seems they can easily manipulate him. Tendulkar has been threatening to be a captain again!!!! You got to be kidding. He can not handle responsibility. Tendulkar should not be in the team - not because he is not the best player - but his presence is a burden in itself. Tendulkar is not a match winner and he has past his prime. It is time that he should gracefully retire - it is the best service he can give to Indian cricket. He is not that innocent - he is the king maker and so long as he is there, the politics will continue. He only spoke when he saw the money from promos is about to disappear.
Not too long ago Sanjay Manjrekar openly challenged Tendulkar to stop faking his injury and come out clean. Sanjay knew what he was talking about. Tendulkar has served the game but he is just cashing on what should now go to someone else.
BCCI should have a generous retirement benefits so the seniors can be off loaded with enough money so they will not stretch their stay unnecessarily. Get rid of under performers and ask them to prove themselves. They should be asked to prove - not in the stupid domestic cricket of India but to go to England and prove themselves, where the county cricket will measure them up. Not many Indian players will survive there because there is no manipulation.
We will do well against Bangladesh because their team that is working hard in the World cup will be tired and we will roll them over. That will be the time to celebrate again. For our mediocre team it will be a great achievement and we will hope our public will forget the World Cup fiasco. Records will be made and we will be able to encash it for some time to come!
I am very concerned with Powar at the helm of affairs in Indian cricket. So long as he is there the players from Mumbai will be in action (with or without talent) and things will not change. He has already changed his story three times since the team came home. He is a politician and has made a proposal in form of a carrot to Greg Chappell. Poor Aussie does not know what an Indian politician is capable of. They have already fooled him or else he would have spoken all. We had to save Tendulkar!!
We will do to cricket what we did to hockey. The interest for the game in general public has started going down. Thank you BCCI. Thank you for getting the productivity of Indian industry up by saving almost a month that would have been wasted in watching world cup games.
Why Sandip Patil (he is from Mumbai but still has some national pride left in him) is not being considered - only God knows. My understanding is that he is frank and many in the board do not like it. The state of cricket in India will remain pathetic till the BCCI has its coffers full. The time has come for people to stop giving this poorly managed great game all their time and energy.
In conclusion minimise Mumbai players and you have a better team already. Get away from Ravi Shastri as soon as possible to save the team. See his body language - he seems to be a fixer on the job who has a toolbox full of wonderful tools but no brains to use it. He has single handedly taken Indian cricket down in ODIs. He used to open and waste a lot of balls before scoring. He has no clue what he is going to do with the team. We are wasting time on him. GOD HELP INDIAN CRICKET from overfed totally useless BCCI officials.
