Is the country protected by defence force?

HELLO THERE FOLKS,

I have read quite a few opinions on the indian army both good and bad and some totally ridiculous. the ones that talk about soldiers being paid to die are totally disgraceful, spawned by total ignorance of what makes a soldier tick. to all those that say so I have just one question ''for how much money will you be willing to die my friend?''.

now getting on to the underlying cord that connects all these reviews is the question'why do they do it'. I dont claim to be a psychiatrist that knows all bout the human or military psyche. but I guess I can certainly hazard a guess. so here goes.

the world in which we live is actually a pretty confused place. people working and earning yes but really lacking a goal or a purpose in life.just look around you and you shall see what I mean. on the other hand there is the soldier from varied backgrounds namely different regions,castes,religions,societies,classes.. basically from all stratas of society. demographically speaking its the greatest leveller(the military that is). point to ponder: how many times have you heard of communal or caste violence in the military?? makes one think doesent it? newayz the social structure is just one of the reasons.

now think about the pride a soldier must feel, except when some ignoramus cheapens them by calling them bodies on hire or fodder for the wars, the pride of working for a noble cause. the pride that on his shoulders rests the safety of a billion countrymen. the pride which shows in the way he wears his uniform, the way he carries himself, pride in his code of ethics. that my friends is another reason. now coming onto the most intriguing quesstion 'what makes him willing to sacrifice his life? why should he do that? how can he possibly make the ultimate sacrifice? it truly is an awesome reality that our soldiers have repeatedly done that and shall continue to do so anytime they are called upon to do so. so what is it that makes them do it. I would say its a combination of all the above reasons along with what's called Comraderie

imagine life in the army, it is tough definitely with implicit obedience a prerequisite, where you are away from your loved ones and what keeps you going are the friends you have and the common bond that connnects all those men in uniform. the pride binds them together, their love for their country, their love for each other and also the competition between them. this comraderie is born of the knowledge of what they hav been through together and that nobody else outside has. so when their buddies take that step towards the enemy line they walk right along not a step behind trying to outrun them trying to be there first glory is thine and if there is death so be it.

I have tried to the best of my knowledge and intelligence to gauge what makes a soldier tick. of course I couldnt possibly fathom the whole truth this is a mere drop in the ocean but if it makes sense to even one of you then I guess there was something to it. adios friends till the next time.
