I Recently got the chance to read this book and was glued to it till I completed it.
It is a great book in many aspects with respect to modern Indian geo-socio-political space. Even if one is uninitiated on Netaji, his works, life and all the controversies trailing him, this book might change the whole perspective. Because it has never attempted to shape up as a biography of one of the most admired personality of India.
This book shows how an investigative journalism could enlarge the basic premise of the topic if sincerity, commitment, hard work with a purpose beyond selfish outcome are put together.
We rarely find so many references to classified information that the "establishment" had consciously kept away from public discourse. It again shows information can not be contained within geographical boundary and they are indeed accessible if sought with utmost commitment and perseverance. Every chapter is a testimonial of hard work.
As a reader, one finds it difficult to accept the fact that we collectively have failed a "hero" who had bargained everything in life for his motherland's true independence - a path of transformation towards national awakening through spiritual refinement - not mere transfer of power. And after all that, his life has been mired with so much untold, difficult to find a parallel of selflessness, tragedy and conspiracy.
This book takes an engaged reader to a belief that a day would have to come when the "establishment" would be forced to de-classify all information related to Netaji. As the country and the people deserve to ponder on its own merit to belive and know an unforgettable chapter of 20th century.
In my opinion, the book deserves to be read by every Indian.
And off-course great work by the writer Mr Anuj Dhar!
