Since I am an Indian and have spent all my life here , my perspective I offer is not for travelling but for life here of a citizen in general . I am very sure that there are many breathtaking tourists places in India with excellent facilities and infrastructure which may prompt a visitor to give excellent rating to India. I however , prefer to see day-to-day life.

Its 50 years since India is functioning as a democracy and we have managed to develop some good ! But even today , when we imagine of having a computer at every house , we have not made sure to provide electricity for running those . More than 1/2 of our villages still have no electricity or water-supply . How does that reflect on us ? We often condemn Western nations for controlling most of the resources of the world forgetting that they have displayed an aggressively positive attitude in creating those .in first place . Look from a neutral perspective and you will find that the Western nations have provided a much better life to its citizens than we . All we do is take a leaf out from here or there and show our jealousy ( pardon me ! ) for the west.

The undiminishing load of corrupt and inefficient bureaucracy and polity in our society has taken its toll on this nation. While we often talk about Pak sponsored terrorism causing deaths in Kashmir and elsewhere in India , we have kind of sanctioned hunger deaths and ''accidents'' caused due to inept handling of our resources or technology . Sure some would argue that the bureaucracy itself was inherited from the British , but its 50 yrs since they have left and are we still expecting some else to come and correct things in the system ? All we do is to fix the blame on someone and it ends there !

In a democracy , the politician class will always be reflective of the mindset of the people . So I am not exaggerating when I say that we deserve the treatment we get at the hands of our rulers. Whether the issue is Ram Mandir , Corruption , reservation , fundamentalism or Kashmir , all we do is fix blame . The country's media has not helped it in any way ! India does not have social institutions strong enough to driver public opinion towards the better ment . The scientific attitude is missing amongst masses . And we as a people have no strong principles and values - leading us to have leaders who none either.

But I am sure a day would come when the people will realize that we have to set our house in order before we take on any other nation ( Be it US or Pakistan) ! That day they will come out on the streets and make themselves heard , That day a new political class will emerge or the exiting one will improvise ! I continue to live in India with this hope !
