It's just my imagination, or is it?

I’ve never been to India before and that is the very reason as to why I’m writing this review on India, my motherland. I’m writing this review because I want to review how I imagine I see this nation. By doing this I will perhaps get a better insight towards India with the help of your comments.

On the edge of the Yamuna River in Agra there lays the most beautiful thing one could ever see. The remarkably stunning Taj Mahal, a mausoleum built by one of the Moghul Emperors, Shah Jahan-was constructed to symbolize Shah’s eternal love for Mumtaz Mahal. When I look at amazing photographs taken of this monument I am limited to as what I can see, so I imagine until the day that I am able to touch the elegant marble that has been inlaid with somewhat forty-three different kinds of precious stones. The exquisite sculpted arches that have been carefully engraved with designs. I vision the Yamuna River running so peacefully behind the Taj, and when the water is perhaps rather calmer than usual you can see a splitting reflection of the building that took so many years to create. I’ve heard that at different times of the day the Taj Mahal also looks different in colour. I downloaded this picture for my desktop of this amazing piece of architecture and the building had a purple glow to it, kind of a misty look to it.

The other buildings like the Pink Palaces in Jaipur and the Moon Palace, and the Red Fort in Delhi and the Bahai Temple. When you look out of some of them you can see a whole empire of land, right out to the horizon. The buildings I have a passion for, particularly the historic buildings from the Mughal Age. The domes and arches are so original

The Ganga I envisage to be more experiencing spiritually. The sacred river lit with little tea-light candles.

Goa I picture as the place to just relax. The sand like golden tear drops that rub against your skin. It’s coconut palm trees swaying in the silent sea breeze as you lye on the beach with a pineapple drink in one hand and a book in the other staring out into the sapphire waters. How I wait for that day to come!

I imagine that the cities are full of stands, a bazaar. People selling the millions of spices that we use in our Indian ‘art’ (as my mother calls it) of cooking. Shops that have thousands of exotic saris and salwaar kameez’s stacked one on top of the other. The shopkeepers waiting for you with tea ready to be served. Am I right so far?

And in Mumbai, the home of Bollywood. Maybe when I come one day I’ll get to see a Hindi film in a Hindi theatre. I hear the theatres are flasher than in the West and the home to those of Amitabh Bachan and all the other famous actors.

India to me sounds like such a magical place and this picture in my head is just built from years of hearing about the country and reading books about it.

Now you tell me your picture…
