The Journey towards India…..

The Britisher’s had followed a divide-and-rule policy in India. They were fearful of the potential threat from the Muslims & Hindus. Their Goal was achieved by dividing Hindus and Muslims. They became successful in their mission by dividing the two community, Hindu’s & Muslim’s.

India gained its independence but was partitioned into Hindu-dominated India and Muslim-dominated Pakistan. The British left India divided into two. The two countries were founded on the basis of religion, with Pakistan as an Islamic state and India as a secular one. The reasons for the partition were many and complex buried into the last one thousand years of history of Indian. The Hindu and Muslims of India had a different belief system.

Many years after the partition, the two nations are still trying to heal the wounds left behind by this incision to once-whole body of India. Many are still in search of an identity and a history left behind beyond an impenetrable boundary. The two countries started of with ruined economies and lands and without an established, experienced system of government. They lost many of their most dynamic leaders, such as Gandhi, Jinnah and Allama Iqbal. India and Pakistan have been to war twice since the partition and they are still deadlocked over the issue of possession of Kashmir ,same issues of boundaries and divisions, Hindu and Muslim majorities differences.

My Family’s Experience…..

My grandfather was one of the many victims of the partition. He and his family were forced to move from Pakistan and flee to the “new land” India (Delhi).

My grandfather remembers hearing at night, screams from the Muslim community and screams back from the Hindu and Sikh community. They would yell at each other, both sides telling the opposite side to move otherwise they would kill them. It was always feared that during the night, one of the sides would attack so most nights were sleepless because people feared for their life. Even daytime wasn’t safe. No person dared to go where the people from the opposing community dominated and the whole day would be spent listening to details of people who have been killed.

Why are we fighting among ourselves when God has created each soul , when he has made no difference between us why do we want to make it.

Now days all our media - TV, newspapers and now even Internet - are full of all kinds of hate rhetoric between the two countries. At least we people should not fight on stupid topic but is unfortunately being misused.
