Now that everybody is singing Mangal,Mangal and August 15 is not too far..I thought lets review India ,my country!!.

This review is more a questionnaire than a review. Its for the readers to think over and ask themselves.

Read on ..........

Some ramblings here

''Man...Oscar Wilde was a great writer!, but man that fellow was a gay and dint even dare to admit it !!!..

Albert Einstien was a great scientist!,but man that fellow used to work in the Patent office , god knows how many papers he plagiarised!!!...

Azim Premzi is a great entrepeneur!,but man that fellow doesnot believe in sharing wealth like that of say an Infosys..that fellow owns 84% shares of the company!!''

The point is, as a person, we all have some shortcomings no matter whatever greatness we assume we possess..

And we as human beings are believed to possess five senses, but then under certain circumstances how difficult it is to control these very five senses!!

Now coming to the subject under discussion,

India as a Nation is multi-cultural,multi-ethnic,multi-religious,multi-party and multi-what-not...If we extrapolate the things to india which consists of more than a 100 crore of human beings, Is it then possible for India to not to have its own shortcomings??Is it possible to control some negative aspects of all the people out here,in case they become cumulative leading to aggravating results???

The answer for this is yes but with a little bit of that hope thingy attached to it..then what is causing such situations to aggravate?

I would concentrate on three aspects or causes mainly religion, politics and the media...

THE RELIGION - the people

India is listed here in MS under overseas attractions. However it is the people more than the place which can make a destination as an attraction. What use is of the TajMahal, the Qutub Minar or the SalarJang museum in here if the people who visit here dont feel at home or if they do not feel secure and feel good??.

When we talk of India we talk of Hindu fundamentalism or the Islamic terrorism or the Khalsa sikhism may be the list goes on.

Has India managed to maintain peace with this multitude of religious ''facets''?

I think it is a yes.

The babri masjid, the godhra or the militant firing or may the conversion of religions in case of christianity..

Do they happen day in and day out and at all the places?.

Do all muslims feel the fear factor in here?

Do all the Hindus get converted to christianity , so easily?

Is there any toleration in all religions??

I think there is!I stay here in hyderabad where I can say almost 30-40% are muslims...how many issues happen here which is in the news??

Thinking on all these questions , I would say India is relatively more at peace as compared to the so-called developed nations with finger countable number of parties or religions or ethnicity.

Now, why such issues of religion hatred happen...?

Whats in a name?,Its what I do that defines me!

~~Batman, in the movie Batman Begins

Yes that is what is the reason...its what a single Hindu(person or an entity) or a Muslim or a Sikh does that tends to define the whole religion creating chaos...if a muslim does a terror act, people tend to label all of them as terrorists..if a Hindu is responsible for a carnage such as a Godhra, all the people tend to label the whole religion as carnage-creators...

Does such a generalization based on a specific aspect right?

An obvious no of course...

The very fact that only the Khans rule bollywood,or the kaifs and the pathans get all praise, and Mother Teresa was highly respected is testimony to the fact that...religion does not matter for anybody anywhere...Its what a person does that defines his situation.

Then why is it that such things happen...the answer lies in the next two points...the politics and the media

THE POLITICS

I always think that in politics, the choice is between chosing the worse or the worst instead of the better or the best!!

The whole political system is filled with its own motive to garner votes playing the so called vote-bank-politics.Neither the Congress is good(think of the emergency or the sikh riots) , nor the BJP(think of the godhra and the babri masjid), nor are the communists(think of their conservative ''principles'').

The British is said to have implemented the divide-and-rule thing...but then are not all the parties playing such politics even now??

What should I say..is there any way to clean this system?

I think it takes a great amount of time...we as a people here could not even make a Yuva or a Nayak which dealt with the solutions as a complete hit...I guess much thing needs to be done!!

All this said and done, has India achieved in securing peace inspite of these politicos?

Again I would put a relative yes only because of the people in here!!

THE MEDIA

When the Godhra carnage happened,a picture of a Muslim guy was shown on the front page of all the newspapers..what was disturbing was that the guy was folding hands like that of Hindus do??

Is the media sending the right signals to the people out here concentrating on such aspects?

Though I would say it is right in its own sense to display journalism transparently, but when we read the caption of the news..it prompted more hatred than peace...thanks for the tolerance, nothing more grave situation happened after that!

Such issues should have been handled delicately and with much thought so that the truth was conveyed with less or no damage.

Currently, the Honda employees are on a strike and the police did a lathi charge and the Media as always went on displaying the acts of violence by the police...Did most of the newspapers also cover the real crux as to why the employees were removed,or what the employees had done??

If something is displayed transparently, display all the aspects, cover the whole story and more over equal importance for both the to and fro aspects needed to be given so that the truth prevails...

Hiding some truths and exposing only disturbing aspect of the truth will create more problems than solutions..

Covering all the aspects with the use of a moderate language would create less aggravating situations. Some issues as these need to be handled with great care.

As far as coming to the the rescue of the problems..opposition is always there as the watch-dog-for- their-own benefit to grill the ruling party and ensure that such things do not happen often.

I guess in a way even media is playing its part in being a part of the problem rather than being a part of the solution!!

TO CLOSE

Have I answered any questions or only posed more questions in the review?

I think more of questions rather than answers...

Keeping the three things above aside ,And thinking exhaustively with an impartial mind reveals that ,

Yes India is indeed a great country and like great people , it has its own shortcomings which do get addressed and need to be sorted out.

Finally,

Ratings DO NOT matter, for I really feel many points I have not covered.Comments and a healthy discussion is more than welcome

Regards,

Amaresh
