Independence Day: Resurgence’ doles out the action and effects work in carefully measured, incremental doses, which give the film a cumulative tension almost despite itself.
Even if it’s hokey and jokey, this is a loud, effects-driven piece, with a driving score. For fans of Roland Emmerich disaster movies, it both hits all the marks, while delivering nothing new. Yet in today’s global marketplace, that should be enough to deliver the commercial payload.
The director Roland Emmerich deserves a great applause for this.
Though this movie do not entertain you as its first part but holds you at the seat for 2 hours.
Resurgence spends roughly its first half-hour checking in with the handful of characters from the first film who returned for this installment, as well as a bunch of new characters, who are mostly the children of the first film’s heroes.
