Imint gives me a surprise. Review on Imintpoints

Last week while digging in my desk, I had happened to see this so called imint card which was given to me  a year back while purchasing a Sony Bravia LCD at TMC, Hyderabad. I was explained about the offers which I never cared as I had considered it an other type of business gimmicks to attrach gulible customer. Also later I had found that all the points accumulated on my ICICI Credit Card had vanished. When I called up the customer care then I was given a brief course on imint and their nature of business.

Since 2004 my ICICI Card displayed around 16, 000 points. I never cared to redeem them and I almost forgot about them. At this point ICICI Customer Care informed that my points will be doubled on reaching imint and so roughly the points came to 32k. Then one fine day I went through the imint website and called the CC guys. I was told to register on the web and that never happened as the site kept crashing frequently. The CC guys told me that they will get back in 7 working days. Again when I called up, another 10 working days, another 15 working days etc. Finally after 2 months of calling I threw away the imint card into my closet and thought about the fox and the grapes tale.

Now coming back to Feb 10,  2010, I found this card again and decided to give a try before chucking it out. I went over to the website and found a new overhauled imint site. I was able to register the card immediately and a message displayed that the password would be mailed to me. But that never happened and I had to wait for 2 days. Finally with a huff, I tried clicking the forgot the password and a new password was sent to my mail in 30 min. So finally managed to see my own account and my points displayed 35, 000 gleefully.

Then I browsed through the rewards section for suitable items. After a long search  I zeroed on 500 GB portable external hard disk, Trascend 8GB thumbdrive and Mechanix assembling set for my kid. I received a message that the order will be despatched to the vendors. On Feb 16th I received first two items via blue dart courier and the toy kit from fedex. I was in a shock to see those items and I never believed myself till all the items were ripped open and tested. I received a cute looking hard disk and I immediately ripped open the external casing, took out the disk and replaced the 250 Gb hard disk on my laptop with the new 500 GB! Now the external casing holds my old hard disk. My kid is just happy to see his toy. There were bills along with the price of each product. The prices were really absurd. The HDD was mentioned at 7900, Transcend 8 GB 2400 and the toy 800! Now all I need to worry is about the gurantee. I hope everything works well:).

I have read so many negative reviews on imint on MS. But somehow I have escaped the troubling of facing wrong or damaged items. I dont have any suggestions for readers on imint but that I am just sharing the experience. Also please dont mistake me to be some one working for imint.
