A simple test to find out if your mission on earth is complete……………………If you are alive, it isn’t !!!

BANG!!!!

That’s what happened when I read these lines on the back of the book ''Illusions''

by Richard Bach, better known as the author of the amazing and popular ''Jonathon Livingston Seagull''.

The book is an amazing piece of work that talks about ''The Adventures of A Reluctant Messiah'' in characteristic Bach style…lucid, simple and rivetting.

The story is written in first person, about the author,Richard, making a living by giving people joyrides in his biplane for three dollars each, moving from place to place with his plane.

Somewhere in his journey he meets a man called Donald Shimoda, ‘Don''.

Don is a supposed ''Messiah'', son of God, who has been in the papers for some ''miracles'' that he had done, who incidentally is in the same profession as Richard.

Both of them strike it out instantly. All along the story, Don teaches and explains the principles of life to Richard, trying to make him a Messiah like him. Don explains the realities of life to him, as to how life is just what we think and believe it is, and how we can actually do what we believe we can. This explains that the ''miracles'' are mere outcomes of radical transformations in our thoughts and beliefs, unlearning some thoughts and adopting some other beliefs.

Don also explains that life is all about choices and we are free to do whatever we want, right or wrong. All that we do, all that happens to us is because we want it to happen, not otherwise.

Another interesting concept depicted in here is that each person lives in a different world from the other. This is because each person’s world is a manifestation of his or her personal experiences and imagination through life, and hence each one’s world can be changed by merely altering your beliefs about it.

Finally, the book ends dramatically leaving Richard and the reader with some answers but a lot more questions about life which we have to unravel during our course of life.

All in all, a very profound book which helps one to learn about life, and assess one’s own values, one’s world, one’s goal…………

HAPPY READING !!!!
