Ideal Cream Parlour, A synonym for ice cream in Mangalore.
There is an old Mangalorean saying: you cannot come to this city and go away without eating ?GudBud? from Ideals. Yes, Over the years Ideal has conquered the ice cream world in Mangalore. That is one of the reasons branded ice creams are not doing so well in Mangalore.
About GudBud.
In a tall glass, one layer of kesar ice-cream, a thin layer of jelly, some dry-fruits, then strawberry ice-cream, fresh fruits and vanilla ice-cream. It was an instant hit when they started and the trend is still on. And It?s called ?Gudbud?because the ice-cream parlour workers could not mix and match the flavour properly. In Kannada, ?Gadidbidi? means hurry or rush. And Gudbud ice cream is now the household name of Mangalore. One interesting thing- Still the gift or surprise for securing good marks from parents is GudBud in in Ideals. And whether it?s a birthday ?treat? or ?treat? for any occasions and why not ? even meeting place for couples is Ideal Cream parlour though there is no privacy.
What I like most in Ideal Cream Parlour.
The Taste and quality of the icecreams which has never been changed over years. Yes, what has changed is size of the glass in which they are serving.
What I recommend to have in Ideals
GudBud, Parfait and Soda Cream.
What I don?t like in Ideals.
It?s always crowded especially in the Summer and the parlour looks like a wedding hall. There isn?t a good privacy.
